As part of a Korean-themed special, The Soup Spoon launched a range of Korean-inspired soup receipes.I tried out the Tteokguk My Version, which is The Soup Spoon's in-house version of the traditional tteokguk. As it was a gloomy, rainy day, with relatively low temperatures, the bowl of piping hot soup was a welcome relief. The steaming egg broth was generously filled with chunks of beef and omelette, as well as various indistinguishable vegetables. Of course, no tteokguk would be complete without the thick, chewy slices of rice cakes. The texture of the cakes reminded me of mochi - it was so satisfyingly moreish. continue reading

We were lucky, soup spoon was having a one for one deal when we passed by the restaurant! Happened that we wanted a light dinner, so here we go!Soulful vegan chili was a spicy soup. The texture of the soup was light but full of flavor. It was vegan so there was no meat in it. However, the beans were enough to fill you up without making you feel guilty.Irish beef with stout was thick and filling. There were generous portion of vegetables and beef cubes. The beef was marinated in stout and mushroom, and herbs were added to enhance the taste of the soup.  continue reading

Lunch at The Soup Spoon always make me feel satisfying and healthy. Bought the chicken with mushroom wrap and also the simon & Garfunkel soup. For less than $15, is value for money. Soup is filled with generous amount of tomato, carrots, onion and vegetables which are very nutritional. THe soup texture is thick and creamy. As for the wrap, is totally not only and fresh chewy mushrooms and tender chicken meat can be found inside. Restaurant is quite small but cooling, service was quite helpful and friendly. continue reading

I wasn't feeling much of an appetite thus I decided to have a simple soupy dinner today. For my soup, I decided to order the Mushroom Velvet Soup for about $7.90 and top up $4.50 for half a sandwich and a drink. The soup is really thick and filled with chopped mushroom which can actually make a filling meal on it's own.The only problem I have with the soup is that they seems to have put too much shiitake mushroom in it. The soup was really nice until when I was about 2/3 into it and I started to feel sick of the overpowering taste of the Shiitake mushroom. My half sandwich of Teriyaki Chicken sandwich was quite nice. The chicken itself was a little salty but worked well with the sesame bread and greens.Overall a satisfying meal continue reading

One rainy Saturday, i decided to eat at The Soup Spoon in Dhoby Ghaut. I intended to just have a soup to warm me up on a cold morning but the crew recommended that I order a set meal which includes a choice of sandwich or salad and a choice of drinks. I ordered regular velvety mushroom stroganoff soup, caesar salad and iced lemon tea. The soup came with a piece of bread. The soup was made from fresh mushrooms, it was silky and slightly bitter. Perfectly eaten with the bread. I highly recommend it to mushroom lovers like me. The caesar salad was fresh and saladelicious, if there is such a word. Haha. I commend the calorie count provided in the soup menu. It is beneficial for calorie conscious diners.  Read my full review at www.sweetmemoirs.com/fooddiary. continue reading
