First time try this reataurant. It is located near ntuc learning hub, under housing blks. There are two sections - non air con and air con. We reached at Ard 5 smthing close to 6pm, we were the first customer. We actually wanted to order the $98 set menu. But they say they dont have that, and insisted only have the mother's day set menu;( that is not very customer orientated;( We order the Mother's Day set menu for 4 pax @$168. 1) smoked duck w scallop mango salad The smoked duck was supposed to be black pepper flavour. But the black pepper taste is nowhere to be found. this appetiser is indeed refreshing with the mango salad. Scallop wasn't too bad too. 2) steamed egg white topped with fish maw and shredded chicken My sister distributed this dish to us. Guess I am lucky or unlucky, didnt get the shredded chicken. The shredded chicken is in small quantity. The egg white was not smooth. And the fish maw soup is not thick as well. It was an average dish. And quantity is small. 3) 10 head whole abalone and ringed conpoyIt came in nice presentation. Thick slice of melon encompasses the dried scallop, with abalone sitting around them;) Taste wise, is really average. Abalone is kind of bland. Sauce is light as well. The only good thing is that the dried scallop is not as overly cooked.4) prawn coated with milk and butter Pathetically small! Didnt managed to bring out the taste of this dish. Not flavourful. It's very average. 5) noodle with spring onion and gingernoodle is the mee kia type. and has a strong "kee" smell.. Definitely is a spoiler to the whole set menu. 6) abundance 5 gems desserts Not too sweet and thick. It suitable for me who doesn't like sweet things. Good thing is they throw in a free 1/4 suckling pig for this mother's day set menu. My sister say the suckling pig has a very strong "PIG' smell, its not crisp to the point as well.Overall, I feel the food in zi yean are average. And is not on the "will revisit" list. continue reading

My favorite is the stewed beef la mian. For only $3.80, you get a bowl of delicious la mian with generous chunks of stewed beef. All beef lovers will be delighted to know that the chunks of beef are not only VERY HUGE but tasty, tender and well-marinated. The flavorful gravy is extremely complementary to the homemade noodles which are smooth and delicate.I strongly recommend Zi Yean's stewed beef la mian for lunch. One day I shall try its famous tze char and blog about it too. Stay tuned. continue reading

Ate there with my colleagues yesterday and the yifu mian was really good, only cost $4!One of them who was an ex-colleague insisted on buying the vegetable bun.. i don't know what it's called, didn't get to try it but he really insisted that it's something you MUST MUST MUST try, anyway he ate all of it so we didn't get to try it, but seeing that it appears so nice, pls try at your own risk!马来面 mee goreng - $4.5(S), $7(M), $9(L)Colleague ordered this S one.. portion was okay, another 3 people shared the medium one, and they only had one baby bowl each. so separate your food, the portion does not really go according to S M or L! 牛肉干河 beef hor fun - $4.50(S), $8(M), $10(L)Beef hor fun is really good! i ordered it a few days back and yes, so far this is my second time yesterday and the standard is there.its' closed on Mondays and Fridays if i'm not wrong sometimes.Order the homemade barley, it's nice but cost $1.50, hahaa!Sorry no pictures because totally forgot about it! continue reading

It is my father in laws birthday dinner. My hubby went there once with his friends, find the food not too bad and bring us to try out the food. It is not a difficult place to find. There are two parts to this restaurant - the non-air conditioned place does not charge GST, while the air-conditioned place does. The restaurant is 100% PRC waiter, the service surprisely very good. Overall, the food is good, price quite reasonable. continue reading
