One of the more popular stalls in Chinatown Complex Market, it is a great choice for simple local fare. We ordered the bee hoon, chee cheong fun and the yam cake. A cheap and filling breakfast!!! Love the yam cake best, together with the chilli and sauce, it is perfect. Chee Cheong fun was quite normal though. The yam cake and chee cheong fun was the more popular items compared to the bee hoon. My friend and I love bee hoon so we had to order that. Didnt regret ordering it cos it is delicious, just the right texture, not too hard or too soft, and not too oily too.

My friend was mentioning about Jia Ji Mei Shi's Yam Cake and its popular among the youngesters and elderlies. Jia Ji Mei Shi was just a normal humble little stall that occupies a unit in Chinatown Complex Market and food Centre but was marked as a choice of breakfast. Look at the queue. Although it was long but its fast moving. The yam cake was one of the top selling item found in the stall besides their dumplings. This steam delicacy was smooth and cut into smaller chunks with the sweet black sauce to enhance its taste. I would say these pieces are soft and requires some skills to grab if you are using the chop sticks. Cost: S$1.50Hot porridge is pretty common with with small cuts of century egg hidden, stir a few more times and will will get to scoop up the century eggs. Cost: S$2.50 / bowl

the chee cheong fun is a bit oily for my liking , as you can see in the photo on how it reflects under the light. the cheong fun is soft and nice; overall taste is okay , I've easily had better. This stall have been around like ever since the first time i came here. Service was fast but uncle serving not so friendly (in a hurry).

I had never gone to the food centre at Chinatown. It was until this afternoon that I came to this place. I decided to try out the food from this stall because I heard that the food from this stall is good.First off, a dish of chee cheong fun and yam cake is what I had. The cuts of chee cheong fun are put on top of the pieces of yam cake. The yam cake and chee cheong fun are served with sesame oil, chili sauce and dark sweet sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds that make the dish appetising. The yam cake is pale purple and does not have any cube of yam appearing on its surface. It is soft and springy. It has a slight yam taste. The chee cheong fun is factory made. It is smooth but not as soft and springy as handmade ones. However, the sesame oil, chili sauce and dark sweet sauce add flavours to the dish. Hence, together with the yam cake, the chee cheong fun tastes better with all three of these. If yam cake and chee cheong fun is not enough, a glutinous rice dumpling is included in the list of what I had for lunch too. The dumpling is unwrapped and cut into pieces before serving. It is stir-fried glutinous rice dumpling with salted egg yolk. The glutinous rice on the surface is brown and looks oily and glossy. The rice is sticky and chewy. The meat in the dumpling is minced. That surprises me because I thought the meat should come in big chunks. Nonetheless, it still has a bit of its meaty flavour but is a bit too hard to chew. The chestnut is soft and becomes a gritty mash in my mouth. The salted yolk is crumbly and not so golden yellow. However, it is best to have a salted egg yolk in the dumpling. The egg yolk is not too salty. It adds its unique eggy flavour to the dumpling. Well, I have never had such nice food before. The dishes looks and tastes good but can be improved from my point of view. I do not mind coming there once more.

I come here quite often with my partner to have breakfast. Some of the usual choices for breakfast are steamed yam cake, soon kueh, chee cheong fun and meat dumpling. All these items are cheap and good. My personal favourite amongst them is chee cheong fun. The texture of chee cheong fun was soft and smooth and it served with the accompanied dark sweet sauce and the chilli. Another favourite is their rice dumpling. The rice dumpling has got a good consistence of glutinous rice filling with meat and chinese chestnut. It can be eaten with their specially made chilli too.
