If you could have the best of both worlds, what would it be? How about a croissant-cum-doughnut? Or a Crodo? This unique pastry first came to light in the US this year and is famously known as the ‘Cronut’ whose name has been trademarked by its original creator, Dominique Ansel Bakery, both in the US and worldwide. In Singapore, Da Paolo has also come up with a similar pastry called the Crodo that looks exactly like a donut on the outside but tastes like a croissant on the inside.I had enjoyed dining at Da Paolo Ristorante (same group as the Gastronomia) before and the food execution and delivery were of pretty high standards so I presumed the same standards would be applied on its pastries too. Unfortunately, the Crodos clearly fell short of my expectations. The original flavour (or Cream) is my best choice (among the worse) out of the 3 flavours. The custard cream filling is very rich and creamy and that is probably the only tantalising ingredient in the entire ring that is of interest to me.For chocolate lovers, you might just fall in love with the Chocolate Crodo as you’d see a load of chocolate ganache oozing out of the centre after you take a bite. It looks delish but unfortunately, it lacks that chocolatey punch as I have tasted better chocolate ganache than that. The Salted Caramel is the husband’s favourite since he’s always biased towards anything caramel. Seriously, it could do with a little more salt to further bring out the flavour of the caramel. It just doesn’t work for me.For full review and pictures, please visit http://springtomorrow.com/2013/10/26/crodos-croissant-donut-hybrid-from-da-paolo-gastronomia-great-world-city/ continue reading

Had a chance to eat at Da paolo Gastronomia. Felt like pampered myself with something nice and luxury, so i decided to go for their pizza. There were six selections for the choices for the pizza. i decided to go for the chicken one. The crust was crispy and crunchy. The ingredients were well put together and it gave a very harmony taste. Will definitely recommended this dish to my roommate as she is a pizza lover. continue reading

I really love the food here and I thought of just pampered myself with something nice for lunch takeaway. It was my first time trying out their pizza and they only had 6 selections to choose from and I got this with roasted beef with tomato and mozarella at $7. It was so yummy, the crust was light and crispy and the ingredients were well put together that resulted to a lovely taste. continue reading

This is a premium gourmet shop situated in great world city. They serve very premium take away food. This is a rather hit and miss place where they do not have tables and chair for people wanted to have their meal there.I passed by the other day and couldn't help stopping in. Despite the somewhat hefty $3.50 price tag, I grabbed a huge chocolate chip scone which catches my attention.Wow. It was some of the best scones I've ever had. Flavorful, soft and chewy. Outright addictive. That was so good, in fact, that I travel few km once a week just to buy their scones and share with loves one! Meanwhile, their gourmet cakes are awesome too which comes a little bit pricey and pack in a very small container. continue reading

Da Paolo Gastronomia's chocolate chip scones. It looked damn tasty so i was tempted to get it.. As we all know, scones are suppose to be hard outside and soft on the inside. Likewise this, the outer layer is crunchy and tasty with chocolate chips bursting in your mouth as and when. Plus point is that the inner part is soft! Really nice. Sweetness of the chocolate chips mixed with muffin-like blend bread was fabulous! The only downside is that it's a little expensive for a piece like that. continue reading
