Ordered a drip coffee as recommended by the barista. There are 6 different types, 4 to 6 are really strong coffees, so I choose 4. S$5.90.Took a sip and it is very strong, every sip caused a ticklish feeling to my nose. Barista is very friendly & patient to recommend the coffees, ambience is really good. It's cozy & quiet however there are customers who are hogging the seats even though they had long ago finished their drinks. continue reading

Where to go for authentic Vietnamese coffee in Singapore? Trung Nguyen Coffee is the place that you should head to right away! It has a cosy environment, with sofas as an option. Trung Nguyen Coffee is a place that you go to for coffee (duh!). It has a cosy environment, with sofas as an option. Rather quiet place for chilling out if you are in the Clarke Quay area.I ordered the Legendee and it came in a (rather) small cup. However, do not belittle it, as it packs a punch within it. So if you are not a frequent coffee drinker, go slow and easy to taste the rich and earthy colours of Vietnamese coffee. Visit Trung Nguyen in Liang Court as it was the only cafe my mom and i saw that could allow us to rest our feet. My mom ordered a latte and a slice of baked cheesecake while i had a bottle of sparkling water( i don't take coffee) and slice of oreo cheesecake. The baked cheesecake was ho-hum..but the oreo cheesecake was BAD. The whole cake was very dry, and the 'cheese' taste like whip cream with a refrigerated taste. I think the cake must have been kept on display for a few days.Very disappointed and will never return again. continue reading

Tucked in a little corner on the second floor, Trung Nguyen Coffee is a quiet place to chill out. In stark contrast to neighbouring (and noisy) Clarke Quay, the outlet here has cosy seats and fewer patrons.Merlion Wayfarer ordered Creative 2. The service staff, a lady, was polite and professional, and served the order without questions. This was unlike the experience Merlion Wayfarer experienced at the Katong 112 outlet. That outlet was also manned by a single lady staff. Merlion Wayfarer reached the outlet just before 2100 hours, and the staff insisted that the coffee be served in a paper cup. When Merlion Wayfarer said she preferred a porcelain cup (Who ever heard of a paper cup being used in a dine-in setting?), the staff ventured to ask further if she could serve it without the drip container. What audacity to dilute the product this way! Anyway, the version at Katong was too watery...This was the cup that was served at Liang Court. Of course, the dripping took time, but that was all the fun in drinking a cup of Viet Coffee. When Merlion Wayfarer found the coffee too thick, she provided ice and extra condensed milk without question. Merlion Wayfarer certainly enjoyed the undisturbed and professional experience at Liang Court - where one small cup of thick hot coffee was enough to fill a huge mug with ice, and more...The full blog is available at http://merlionwayfarer.blogspot.sg/2012/10/the-contrast-between-two-outlets.html continue reading
