We placed our order for petite Christmas cupcakes over the phone several days prior to Christmas, and when we dropped by to pick them up, we were surprised that the shop was really small and charming, looking just a little lost amongst a row of motley HDB shops & a busy coffee shop. We knew of this shop through word of mouth; a friend recommended them for being flexible and creative, being able to customize their cakes according to the customer's whims and would accept small, orders too. We were charmed by the pretty little cupcakes staring at us from the glass display case fronting the shop. Charlotte Grace's cupcakes are slightly smaller than the regular cupcakes but they are big on taste. We couldn't resist buying two off the shelf at $2.50 each to eat on the spot. We loved the red velvet cupcake and double chocolate cupcake. The imported fondant icing caters to those with a sweet tooth but the cake itself was not too sweet. The chocolate flavour was rich and we were happy that we were not eating the ultra heavy and 'jelak' American style cupcakes that are so common now. Our order was ready to go when we came and the two of us could not resist picking one mini christmas cupcake each straight from the box to eat right away (greedy pigs, us).Our guests were similarly delighted with the Christmas cupcakes that we had ordered. Their cellphone cameras went snapping away once the cake box was opened. The best thing about small cupcakes is not having to stop at only one ;-). continue reading
