Mushroom Chicken Claypot Rice at $8.90 without GST and service charges. I really like sauce on the chicken, a little salty and sweet at the same time. There mushroom was soft and easy to chew and you are able to chestnuts in the rice! Well, the chestnut was soft but it tasted weird to me when mixed with the rice. The claypots they used are non-stick ones, thus, there isn't a lot of burnt rice which I think is good as eating burnt rice will cause cancer. continue reading

It was an impromptu dinner with colleague as we were extremely hungry on Monday night. Something wrong with our stomach?i guess. We decided to head to Bedok Point for dinner. We were still deciding what to have and we came across this new restaurant called A-One Porridge House. Lucky for us as there is place to dine in at this hour (7plus pm). We did not need to queue as seats are available.Once we are seated, we are given the menu to browse. There is actually an order list paper on the table with a pencil for us to tick on our choice of order. We didn’t realize it until we called for the staff for ordering. The staff was nice enough to do it for us and give us a broad smile. We ordered the recommended Paris Fragrant which has a very fragrant and sweet fruity taste. The tea was served for 2 pax @S$3.90 and it is refillable. The teapot was always in hot condition as they prepare the candle at the below part to maintain the heat of the water temperature. We shared our food of course. We ordered Claypot Hong Kong style porridge @S$7.90 and add on an egg with additional charge of S$1.00 to make the overall porridge taste better. The porridge has a very thick texture to the extent of quite lumpy. We love the combination ingredients of seasoned with garlic oil, topped with pork slices, fresh spring onions, youtiao and also egg. We mix the raw egg with hot porridge and let the egg yolk to blend into the porridge. The golden yellow colour of the porridge makes us attract to it and it taste as good as it looks. We decided to try claypot dried chilli chicken cube @S$11.90. The serving was pipping hot and portion was just nice for two persons. The dried chilli was quite spicy for me though but luckily the spicy taste is on the sauce and coated on the first layer of the chicken cube. The meat texture is tender and smooth which suits our tastebud. It is best to go with plain white rice.Overall dinner was pleasant as the staff was friendly and prompt to their order and service. There is no service charge applicable while dinning in. Our total bill was S$27.50 for 2 persons which is quite affordable. The location is convenient as well as it is located inside the Bedok Point shopping mall which is a walking distance from the bus interchange and also Bedok MRT Station. continue reading
