I dined at Hongguo.  I ordered 2 side dishes.  They are Szechuan chicken basket and Garlic Cucumber. The szechuan chicken costs $7.80.  It is spicy with dried chilli fried with cube chicken and nuts.  The aroma is strong and pleasant.  I also ordered the garlic cucumber.  The garlic cucumber costs $3.80.  The portion is reasonable for half of the cucumber is served.  It is socked with graded black sauce.  The cucumber is crunchy and chilled. continue reading

Everywhere was crowded at Chinatown Point so my friend decided to settle his dinner here - there wasnt any queue. I ordered the dumpings as i wanted something spicy. It was so-so.The soup is surprising still hot when he's almost finished with the noodles and the soup taste decent. The noodle set is quite interesting as it came like that, and my friend was supposed to pour in the ingredients and it will be cooked. It was a pumpkin dish.. dont really taste good. Not enough pumpkin to start with. The better side dish of all - silverfish. Both my friend and i regretted not ordering 2 plates of these then ordering the pumpkin dish. The wolfberry chrysanthemum is not very sweet which is good.Overall, the food is so so. Will not return unless the rest of the places are with long queue. continue reading

Went to Honguo for dinner; have tried their vermicelli previously, which was not bad. I would recommend trying their salted egg pumpkin as a side, which was quite delicious. The white bait was also not bad. I had their XO fried rice, portion was big and rice was fragrant. My friend had the black pepper beef fried rice - I liked the rice as the black pepper taste was very strong, and more peppery than average. Overall a pleasant meal which is not too expensive - the rice was around $8+. continue reading

I tried their Cross Bridge Vermicelli, which for $8.50 entitles 15 different saucers of ingredients together with a bowl of vermicelli. The waitress will offer to add everything in before serving to the table, which i had to agree due to the lack of space on the table, but lost the novelty of having so many small dishes placed out in front of me. And the end result? I cant even see the 15 ingredients, cause they are present in such small amount. I dont even know what am i putting into my mouth! continue reading

Chinatown may have many delicious chinese foods along the street, but I usually will prefer to go to this simple chinese restaurant as there is air-conditioned environment here and the service here is also quite alright. Bought their fried noodles and was quite happy with the generous portion served to me. Noodles is chewy but was abit too oily. Fortunately the seasoning in it is quite alright and the general amount of vegetables in it make it really crunchy during every mouthful of it. continue reading
