If you grew up in Hongkong or Malaysia in the 90's, chances are that you would have enjoyed many after-school trips to Hong Kong Kim Gary with your friends. The food is unabashedly B-rate, a bastardised hodgepodge of the east and west flavours. Compound that with value-for-money sets that helped stretch a limited allowance, Kim Gary was a teenager's paradise. One thing I hated though, was how disorganized and repetitive the 7 different menus here were; it drove me crazy. The Seven Treasure Cheese Baked Curry ($12.50) was laden with pork chop, squid rings, ham, chicken wing, sausage, egg, and potatoes; great for hungry hippos. The Cheese Baked Rice with Pork Chop ($13.90) with red sauce was decent; moist and sumptuous. The Cheese Baked Rice with Pork Chop ($13.90) with white sauce got a little cloying and heavy halfway through, although a girlfriend, who loves her cream, lapped this all up. I much prefer the red sauce, an instant bottled spaghetti-like sauce, the Cheese Baked Rice with Chicken Chop ($13.90) and the chicken was better done than the pork. More juicy. All the sets comprise a choice of Borsch or Sweet Corn Cream Soup. I say to get the minestrone-like borsch over the sweet corn cream, which was marginally better than a can of campbells.Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant1 Harbourfront WalkVivocity #02-128Tel: 6376 8183Open daily from 10am to 10pm

Since long queue formed outside during dinner time, so my mother and I took a look on their set menu.Always cannot decide what to eat when I reached there because the selection are so varied! Great mix of Chinese and fusion foods. I especially love the hotplates and the desserts.Specialty Mix Grilled Hot Plate Set Meal included Soup and Coffee that attracted me. I opted for the cream soup instead of the tomato-based borsch (Ukrainian soup), but the waitress told us that the kitchen only left Borsch Soup and I had no choice in accepting it.From the list of drinks, I ordered the popular beverage of Mango Mosaic in exchanging the free coffee/tea with milk by topping up $3.00 due to the FLAMINGG MANGOS displayed in their menu. While the drinks being served, aroma of mango was there. However, it was pretty diluted after tasting it.Pretty generous portion of food for Asian culture in Singapore. The food quality is of good standard and also of an affordable price.

I also go for their Baked Cheese Rice with Pork Chop with their Borsch Soup. I dunno if their Borsch Soup is authentic but I really don't care, I LOVE it!!! I can drink bowls and bowls of it. It's tangy and full of vege, it's just really really nice! The baked rice itself is also quite good. The rice is essentially fried rice with egg and there is a nice taste on its own. Then they serve it with 2 slices of grilled pork chops and then baked it with a layer of cheese on top. I like the combination of the layers and it's easy on the stomach and wallet too.

This restaurant has sea view seats. It is very crowded during lunch and dinner time. They sell reasonable priced Hong Kong food. I ordered the curry spaghetti . The curry is baked with a layer of cheese and very spicy. It has eggs, chicken wings, sausages , pork chop or fish fillet or chicken chop depending on what you order. I had the pork chop. The pork chop is very juicy and tender. Pour the curry sauce over the spaghetti and the curry spaghetti becomes very yummy too. If you don't like pasta. You can replace it with rice. The set lunch is value for money. Cones with a main and a drink. Total cost $15

My group of friends and I were searching for a place to rest after all the walking after dinner and now it's supper time for us! We settled down here and were lucky to get seats pretty fast as the restaurant was already packed with people! After us, a queue started to form. We ordered drinks and also one serving of mixed fries to share. There is not much of an ambience at this branch and the drinks and food arrive quickly. The mixed fries turned out so addictive and we couldn't stop popping it into our mouth! Besides the mixed fries, there are other types as well like the seaweed, garlic, spicy, bbq and many many more!
