For the full review and more photos, head over to http://toroamtheworld.blogspot.com/2016/01/food-review-bread-yard.htmlBread Yard is a simple cafe selling sandwiches and all-day brunch dishes. It used to be located in the SUTD temporary campus in Dover Road which I've visited before, but has since shifted to Fusionopolis. The interior is quite small, in fact fewer seats and more cramped than their previous space.Candied Bacon and Grilled Cheese Pancakes ($9): Two thick stacks of fluffy pancakes served with grilled cheese sticking to the sides of the pancakes, a fried egg and candied bacon on top. The cheese was ooey and gooey and a real delight to chew on! The strips of candied bacon were a delicious too, although being salty as usual but it had some sweetness to it too. You can also tell from the photos that the pancakes were really fluffy. It was a great combination of sweet and savoury. The food has maintained their standard as in the previous location and I'm so glad they've continued to offer quality food at affordable prices. They are just a minute away from one-north MRT exit B so kudos to the convenience! continue reading

Situated in an environment with quite a number of offices around, you really can expect quite a crowd during lunchtime on weekdays. Two visits there and both days Breadyard was full house.Selling point of this place, good yummy bread made in-house and also affordable prices on their menu. Tried the following food items on 2 accounts1) Pumpkin Soup $3- Pumpkin soup is thick and creamy, tastes semi sweet and light. It comes with soft pumpkin chunks inside and croutons scattered on top. A great start before the mains.(2) Mushroom Soup $3- This creamy-rich soup is full of mushroom bits. Flavour tastes just right for me, not salty and made me feel comforting when consumed warm on a rainy day.(3) House Salad $3- A combination of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes and alfalfa sprouts. Drizzled with sesame dressing which doesn't seem to have existed. It's was bland, dry and definitely need dressing pump up! Colours are pretty though (4) Bettino Platter $10- A hearty all day breakfast platter with back bacon, honey baked ham, salad, choice of eggs on Breadyard's Hokkaido bread.Highlight here is the Hokkaido bread used. Made inhouse with natural leaven and flour liquid roux. First bite and I'm in love with its texture, so soft like a pillow! Bacon was pan-fried to give that slight crisp on the edges whereas ham was served as it is. I chose scrambled egg for my set but it was slightly overdone thus abit hard.(5) Smoked Chicken Sandwich $8 with added Side Salad for $2- Country bread used was on the dry side. Smoked chicken breast was rather tough and hard on my teeth. The french beans paired inside the sandwich wasn't a good idea too. Garlic butter and honey mustard dressing could be more, to perk up more flavour in the sandwich.(6) Ham & Cheese Sandwich $7- Honey baked ham, red apple slices, cheddar cheese, bechamel and honey mustard dressing on a slice of Hokkaido bread. A simple, light combi which you could easily make at home. I would suggest granny smiths instead of red apples slices used as the natural sourness can excite our tastebuds more. Luckily their soft and fluffy Hokkaido bread made in-house saved my day! Happy!(7) Coffee $4- Breadyard uses Sumatra blend from Brazil. Coffee was slight kicky and has a very mild fruity orange aftertaste.Verdict: Dining experience at Breadyard was pleasant. Staff are attentive and friendly. Although not every food item was impressive but at least their price is competitive. A great lunch hangout place at Fusionpolis. If you're busy and in a rush, Breadyard does provides takeaways and deliveries to nearby offices too. continue reading

My friend was recommending me to come to this place at Dover for coffee one recent afternoon and he brought me to SUTD. I was wondering if he brought me to the wrong place. After parking the car, we walked a short distance and found ourselves in a nice, high-ceiling cafe in the middle of the university campus. It was a self-serve concept, where you order at the cashier and given a number. When your order is ready, the staff will flash your number and you collect the food from the counter. After eating, you also return the tray and cutlery at a tray-return counter. The cafe bakes their bread fresh daily and the semi-open concept means you can see the chefs mixing dough in the back of the kitchen. We had the following:Ham & Cheese Sandwich with Bechamel, Honey Mustard and Fresh Apple Slices: $5.80 - What was interesting is that they added sliced apple to the sandwich. The kids loved it.Desserts:- Apple & Raisin Bread Pudding with Cree Anglaise: $4.70 - Rather unique is the bread pudding that has apple and raisin flavour in it. It was served with vanilla ice-cream and it's good.- Dark Chocoolate Bread Pudding with White Chocolate Mint Sauce: $4.70 - This was even better than the apple and raisin one. Chocolate was rich and thick. Also served with ice cream and it was divine! The cafe is now sited at the SUTD Campus, along Dover Road. SUTD will be shifting to their new capus in Changi, and this cafe will be moving to the new extension at Fusionopolis. You can visit them there.Recommended! continue reading

With the number of cafes opening up increasing by day, it’s not surprising there are an existence of cafes in schools. Bread Yard, a 2 year old cafe operating at the interim campus of the Singapore University of Technology And Design, specializes in all-day breakfast, sandwiches, bread and coffee/drinksThe menu here is extensive and like other food establishments within schools, there is a different pricing scheme for the school and for the public. The Eggs Bettino ($5.90 for SUTD staff/students, $6.90 for public) is easily the cheapest eggs benedict I can find around. And for the pricing, the food did not disappoint too much. The poached eggs are runny and the hollandaise sauce complemented well with it. The bread is rather hard to cut though, though this tasted great with the honey-glazed ham. The salad is great especially with the sauce.I topped my meal up with a Set D, consisting of a Fresh Salad and Ice Tea ($1.50 for SUTD staff/students, $1.80 for public). The salad tasted great and comes in a big portion. The iced tea is refreshing to have after the meal.If you live around the Dover area, or if you are studying near/at SUTD, this is a great place to study, relax or even to read newspapers that are available near the counter! continue reading

As my friend & I were in the vicinity, we pop in here for a quick lunch! I ordered their signature sandwich, the Smoked Chicken, together with set B which consist of roasted potatoes and an iced tea. I had a choice to choose between multi-seed, italian wholegrain, olive or hokkaido milk bread. I chose the multi-seed bread and I love the texture of it! I also love the garlic butter they spread on my bread and together with the chicken, fine beans and cheddar cheese, it was awesome! The roasted potatoes were so addictive and I find myself wanting more of it! I will definitely come back again as their food is tasty and affordable! continue reading
