Signature Dishes
Owned by local actor Mark Lee, Old Town White Coffee promises to bring to Singapore Malaysian-style dishes and top-notch coffee. I don't really drink that much coffee so I cannot comment. I ordered a bowl of prawn noodles and it was surprisingly tasty with big succulent prawns. My friend ordered the Nasi Lemak with sambal sotong and the sotong was quite nice. But the helpings were too small..

the food here is not bad. their chendol looked big in the pictures around the shop and in the menu. but when it arrived, it was the smallest chendol i ever saw. served in a stainless steel little bowl, there is a small pile of crushed ice - not shaved ice. the ice was not very fine at all. the gula melaka syrup was very good and well balanced. the red beans were cooked just right and not mushy. however, the portion was way small. about $6!

nice yellow curry. comes with bread or rice. service can be very slow. we also had a fried egg but it came out looking so bad, we did not take a photo of it. the egg tasted pretty bad too. but the curry was very good. second to killiney's curry! nice balance of heat. it's actually a very small bowl, so that was unsatisfying. took a very long time to serve the food. water tasted very much chlorinated. cost about $10

Kudos to those who love old-school bread with teh tarik! Had my breakfast in Old Town White Coffee last Sunday and I must say it wasn't totally satisfactory due to the slow service (a sudden rush of people coming out before attending the church service at the Rock Auditorium), and thus there were really limited seats available.Initially the waiter gave us a table with four seats for my mother and I, but she separated the table and we had no place to put our belongings despite having no one after us. I felt upset with the unfair treatment because there were many other old couples (at least 3 of them) but they were allowed to sit on tables with four-seats.My mother ordered this prawn kway teow, the soup base is delicious but the prawns does not taste fresh. We both find the kway teow really chewy and I guess we can give it a thumbs up because of the texture of the noodles and the soup. This cost about $5 if I remembered correctly.I ordered eggs and bread. It's quite disappointing because when I asked the waiter if there is any 'set' meal that includes eggs, toast bread and a drink, he just shrug it off fairly rudely shaking his head. So we had to order A La Carte and this is MUCH MORE expensive than getting it over at other toast bread shops like Ya Kun and Toast Box. The teh tarik is super awesome with the crema on top. I am quite disappointed with the eggs and bread because it wasn't piping hot (i love my food hot). The eggs, bread and teh tarik ($1.50) cost almost $5 to $6.

Ipoh chicken horfun got me back a times back to back. I love the saltiness of the soup, the chewy chicken and the chewy texture of the hor fun. the only downside is that its noodles portion is too little. if I am hungry, i can finish it in ten minutes time. and after finishing the whole bowl of it, i dont feel full. I can say the portion has shrinked alittle with the price not decreasing. Other than that, it is really delicious.
