Introduction
Blackball was drawn from the idea of 'Xian Cao' being black in colour and taro 'balls'. 'Xian Cao' is a key inclusion in most traditional desserts across Taiwan. The company was founded and created by Mr. Tang in 2006 and is now one of the biggest dessert chains in Taipei with more than 20 outlets. It has also expanded to Malaysia and Singapore. continue reading

My friend and I came here for the Signature Blackball dessert that many have been telling us about. The layout of the dessert looks enticing but when we started eating it, we were disappointed by the quality of the sweet potato and yam balls. They are not as chewy as other brands that are available in Singapore. An only redeeming point is the quality of the pearls which are chewy and delicious, which definitely goes well with the dessert. continue reading

BlackBall Signature consists of a mixture of melted grass jelly, YamQ, Golden Sweet Potato, Yam Balls, Sweet Potato Balls, Read Bean and Pearls. The velvety smooth grass jelly can be slurped together with the other chewy ingredients. There are different textures in the combination but they complement each other perfectly! That is why Da Rabbit and Sweetie Fin would patronize BlackBall every time they visit 112 Katong For detailed review with photos, pls visit: http://musings-of-a-rabbit.blogspot.sg/2013/11/gems-in-112-katong-part-ii-blackball.html continue reading

Had black ball a few times, there was a long queue each time I went. This dessert chain offers an interesting mix of ingredients. My favourite is the signature black ball, which comes with yam, sweet potato, red beans, black pearls, grass jelly. All of them come in different degree of hardness and sweetness, and taste very good when eaten together. The grass jelly is very smooth, probably the one which is least sweet. The black pearls and yam balls are chewy, and the red beans are the sweetest.Be sure to go earlier though, as some of the ingredients tend to sell out at a later time. I tried one with self-selected ingredients, with kidney beans, red beans, nata de coco and ice jelly. Wouldn't recommend the ice jelly, it didnt taste good with the other ingredients. And I would recommend the icy one (with shaved ice), the ice is shaved well, I don't see any chunks of ice inside my dessert bowl. Good and interesting dessert! continue reading

There are quite a number of 小吃 that are being brought over from Taiwan, but when you compare the ones in Taiwan and what's offered here, somehow it will just taste not as good or authentic. However, BlackBall is probably one of the few Taiwan brand or food that I feel that it almost taste as good as the dessert that I had in Taiwan. I always ordered their Blackball Signature that comes in almost everything you can think of - melted glass jelly, taro balls, sweet potato balls, red bean and pearls. I'm super addicted to its sweet potato balls and taro balls which are super chewy and just nice to exercise your jaws without killing them. What's more, it is served hot or cold, depending on your own preference. It also comes with a small milk capsule which you can choose to drizzle onto the glass jelly for the extra sweetness. Highly recommended to try! continue reading

This is the signature dish from blackball!! They are alot of different ingredients in the soya beancurd! And for just $3. Really worth it and yummy! The ingredients are chewy and are kind of like pearls. Adds a kind of depth and flavor to the milk curd! Great and filling dessert it will make you slightly full though. Do not eat this after a heavy meal! Love the grass jelly too! continue reading
