Popped over at Bacon & Booze on a Saturday afternoon after finding them on the Entertainer App. Armed With a coupon for a 1 for 1 Main, we decided to grab the Crispy Fish Burger and the Chicken Cutlet. While waiting, we nursed a cup of cappucino which didnt turn out too bad despite its simple appearance. A quick glance around the place and we saw that it is very simply furnished with a loads of handmade decorations hung up the wall.Burger Combo: Battered fish topped with nacho cheese & bacon bits, stacked up on a healthy salad. Served with fries.Definitely a well battered fish which was fried till golden brown and served hot and cripsy when we bite into it. The salad gave the savoury dish a slight sweetness, giving it a balance of sweet and salty. Despite having bacon in their stall name, I certainly wasnt expecting the dried hard and overfried chewy bacon that was served with the dish. Fries were also pale yellow instead of golden brown, which a couple of minutes in the deep fryer could have solved.SGD 15Fried to perfection, chicken thigh in lovely golden brown breadcrumbs. Choice of teriyaki sauce or sambal chilli. Served with fries & side salad.A great dish, the chicken culet was served up as promised. The teriyaki sauce that came with the dish was pretty good as well. The only gripe was that is was a little too oily, and the matt plate which the dish was served on didnt do the appearance any favours.SGD 15VERDICTGiven the location, Bacon and Booze will probably be a spot which I would head to when I am looking for a place hangout with friends over beer, or if I am looking for a western food option at Pungol end. The food isnt mind blowing good for me to want to head down again, though the beer list does look promising for beer lovers.Definitely worth a try, but dont expect too much from this place continue reading

One of my all time favourite bacon dish will be the Bacon Wrap Enoki. Tbe bacons are all rolled and stick on to the satay sticks. They are extremely juicy and tender in texture. Love those thick teriyaki sauce coated on it which make it very flavourful and make me always want to crave for more. At nine dollar and ninety cents, is charged reasonable. B & B Delight is also one of my favourite main course here, which simply filled with different types of delicious side dishes on it. Love those scrambled egg which are really light and soft in texture. The bacons are as usual chewy and tender. There are also mushrooms sautéed with onions in this dish, which are quite appetizing and not too salty. The French fries are crispy and not too salty too. Restaurant is cosy and comfortable and staffs are friendly too. continue reading

No, that’s not Bacon & Booze, but Punggol Waterway Park – the very place we were before we were headed for this cafe right at the edge of Singapore, literally. If you think that the Park is already inserted very deep into the North-eastern part of Singapore, you haven’t seen B&B. It is literally, a few steps away from the waters. You can safely take Bacon & Booze very literally, though I think it should be named Booze & Bacon instead, because it’s stocked with much more booze. They are at least semi-serious with the booze and you don’t just find the usual here. The Food Menu is relatively smaller, with a series of bacon items, brunch items and others. As we arrived here from a Breakfast Buffet, we only had a couple of side items, and of course, booze in the afternoon. Feels like a vacation already.Somersby Apple Cider ($12++): Though it wasn’t particularly a hot and humid day, and that it was actually drizzling a little, I was still craving for the ever thirst-quenching and refreshing bottle of Somersby Apple Cider. The alcohol content might be 4.5%, but trust me, it is almost non-existent. It’s sweet, and as easy to drink as an Apple Juice, except sparkling. No it’s probably not for serious beer drinker. I don’t usually drink alcohol, but when I do voluntarily, it has to be this. A product of Sweden.Honey Wings ($10.90++): Between Sambal and Honey Wings, we went for the latter. I thought the wings were okay-done. It can be better if it’s a little more moist. But I like the part where it’s genuine winter honey drizzled quite generously on this finger food. You can patently tell that it’s honey even with your eyes closed.Bacon Wrap Enoki ($9.90++): My finger was quick to land on this dish, one of my favorite bacon dishes. Bacon was perfectly done, soft and still retaining its juices. However, the enoki could have been thicker and more substantial to make the course more balanced. The Teriyaki Sauce though, kind of spoiled it with its overdose of sweetness. Sweet and salty did not go well here. It comes in 4 sticks of 3.Though the food is somewhere between below average to average, I’d still recommend for you to drop by here, if you are planning on a trip to Punggol Waterway Park. It’s not within walking distance, but only about a 10 minutes drive away. I’ve yet to try their Brunch items in the $15 range. But well, I guess you can always come here for its counterpart, booze! Promotions and Happy Hour can be found here. The cafe is just as chill a place as the park, and it is very enticing also thanks to its neighbor, a Horse Ranch. You can walk around the area to find cabins (available for a staycation), a stable, and horses, if you are lucky. We were, as people were doing joy rides. It’s $10 per person for about a 5 minutes ride, if you so desire after the meal. A valued secret, both the cafe and the Ranch. I’m already planning a stay at the Ranch. Watch the space. continue reading

Full Bacon & Booze review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2013/06/bacon-booze.htmlSituated far off the beaten track, Bacon & Booze is a casual little cafe with a western cowboy theme, located next to Punggol Jetty and the Punggol Ranch Horse Riding School. As one of the few eating places in this area, Bacon & Booze is suitably open from morning till night. They also offer to host corporate events, as well as plan for parties.Ambience at Bacon & Booze reflects the horse-riding theme of the wild west. Ropes are used as decor, western style lamps adorn the place, furniture is comfortable, rustic and wooden looking, the bar counter is high with western looking bar stools. The entire building the Bacon & Booze is located in looks like a barn, and has a nice outdoor setting where you can see horses pass by every now and then. Service at Bacon & Booze is rather laid back and casual. Staff are friendly, but as food is only prepared upon order, you'll have to wait between 10 - 15 minutes for your order. As the acutal dining area is rather small, conversations do carry over to other tables. The B & B Delight, which stands for Bacon And Booze Delight, is a breakfast platter of fluffy scrambled eggs, sliced mushrooms sauteed with onions, streaky bacon, baked beans, thick cut chips and herbed sausages. I love that the baked beans and mushrooms weren't just afterthoughts, but properly cooked, tasty, and well intergrated with the overall dish. The sausages were meaty and juicy, and I love the slight freshness of taste from the herbs. Excellent overall dish, though if I had to pick the weakest point on the plate, it would be the rather plain chips. continue reading
