I happen to chance upon this place as the famous ramen keisuke was full. I didn't expect too much from it since it's a chain restaurant from a bakery. But I was pleasantly surprised to see reasonably prices ramen. For $12.80++ you get a corn ramen with egg and char siew.. though the corn ramen soup tastes a little but of alcohol.. But the crispy dango was really crispy with mayo and tastes like very well seasoned meat.. Almost like very good chicken mcNuggets.. The mustard chicken cutlet for $3.80 was also pretty good too! Pretty tasty but abit too tasty that has me suspecting that it has tons of MSG in it, as I kept reaching for my drink. continue reading

Having heard from my guy about the nice ramen from RamenPlay, decided that for dinner as I have long wanted to try.We ordered Tebasaki Braised Chicken Wings Tonkotsu Ramen ($12.80), Spicy Minced Pork Tonkotsu Ramen ($12.80), Bamboo Chicken ($5.80) and a Yuzu Yoghurt drink that total up about $42.00.Yuzu YoghurtAwesome choice although I don't taste any yoghurt in it but maybe it is all blended inside. So icy and taste a little like lemon but confirm perk you up.Tebasaki Braised Chicken Wings Tonkotsu RamenI guess they have braised the chicken wings real long. It is so soft in texture that when you bite on it, it tears easily. The soup is tasty of course along with the nice ramen which is what I long for. The instant noodles type of ramen that taste springy. The way they cook the noodles is very important. Best part, I love the egg. Again, the taste is in between soft boiled and hard-boiled egg. So soft and nice, I just don't know how they manage that.Spicy Minced Pork Tonkotsu RamenMy guy loves it. He has a thing for spice and although this is not very spicy but he considered it good. At least it meets his minimum expectation for spicy level. The minced pork are nice and when mixed, it seems like disappearing before you. Seems like melting together with the soup. That maybe helps to enhance the soup base that why it is so tasty. And the portion of noodles is just right for both our Ramen. Bamboo Chicken - RecommendedThe side dish is served with egg yolk. I didn't dare to try raw egg yolk but I tasted the original taste. The chicken has the bamboo smell coming from it after grilling, with slightly charred and very juicy. I like it so much. Although is a little salty, but according to my guy, he said that after dipping into the egg yolk, it covers the saltiness and it tastes very smooth. I believe that because it is quite common that grilled stuff have this roughness against our gums that sometimes if too hot, it can cause you ulcer. I recommended all to at least try once on this Bamboo Chicken.Despite the various reviews that I have seen online before heading there, I judge based on my taste bud. I mean you can't pleased everyone that easily. I will come back for their other choices next time. continue reading

Had a sumptous lunch with colleagues today @ Ramen Play, Suntec City Mall. However, the selection here is not as much as the usual store located at the other outlets. Probably, due to the kitchen space constraints and also busy hour during lunch time. Ramen Play mostly sell pork ramen. Spicy Minced Pork Tonkatsu RamenI wanted something spicy and the only spicy ramen that was available is Spicy Minced Pork Tonkatsu Ramen. For those spicy-lovers, you might need to add more spice (chilli paste as provided) to spice up the taste a little more.Overall the ramen was good and soup quite tasty but too little of minced meat given. What I like most about japanese ramen is the Tamago (egg). It's soft and tender, not too hard-boiled, and is just perfect! Pork Yakiniku Ramen (Stir-Fried Pork Tonkatsu Ramen)My colleague who doesn't like too spicy try their Chef's latest creations - Pork Yakiniku Ramen (Stir-Fried Pork Tonkatsu Ramen). Basically the soup based taste the same and the pork had too much fat in it. However, it still taste great! The serving was huge and the price are quite reasonable. Crispy Dango (Fried Chicken Meat Ball)We also try the Crispy Dango which is actually fried chicken meat ball. The outer crust was really crispy with tonkatsu sauce and mayo but it really meaty. Comes in 3 pcs and cost only $3.60 per plate. If you spend above $48 you will get this as a complimentary dish if you pay by Standard Chartered Card.Don't worry if you do not own one, for all other customers, you can enjoy this complimentary if you spend above $58.We had a very full and yummy lunch! continue reading
