Restaurant front view of Aussie RollIt was a Friday (26 April 2013) night, we decided to go over to Aussie Roll Cafe which sells ready made sushi rolls. We had been passing by this place but never really went in to try out their dishes so this time round, we decided to try it out.A look from the front shows that they were being featured in one of the food critic magazine/newspaper as there are some print out and photocopied cutting being shown on the glass wall. There are not much tables and chairs inside the restaurant but these was not an issue as there are many tables (public usage) outside of the restaurant as these were some sort of min food court over at this place. A lot of people bought their sushi rice as take away and they will help customer to cut those long sushi into bite size (You can choose to eat it as a whole without cutting too).Nice and attractive display of their sushi rice rollsI think the restaurant boss was very smart not to waste as much of their food as possible as they came out with a happy hour sales (Similar to Japanese restaurant) where you get a discount after a certain hours and in this case, their happy hours is get a free roll when you purchase any 2 of their sushi rolls starting from 6:00pm between Monday to Friday Only.Important point to note is they accept Cash Only payment so remember to bring cash before purchasingOne of their popular variety in their menu and we are actually getting this last roll from their selection (Most of the others are sold out or left with a few). The salmon mixed with the avocado was a nice compilation though I would say most of their rice are quite hard and not as good as the real Japanese sushi rice. This version is quite sticky and dryer. The chicken version of the compilation was not as good as Salmon Avocado as chicken meat were more tough and the chicken since they were using breast meat of the chicken, they do not have much taste too.Same as the chicken avocado but the meat is actually more tasteful than the earlier as it is being marinated with their soy sauce. This roll is not spicy as it was being stated though there was still a bit of spicy aftertaste which was actually nothing at all. continue reading

One roll averaged around $2.50-$3.00, and is not the average kind of sushi you find else where. For one, you get the choice to cut it or not. It originated from Australia, where people would just grab a roll and eat it like a sandwich. The best part of it is the generous ingredient. The rolls generally look the same but differ in ingredients. Personally love the lobster roll and garlic king prawn one!2-3 rolls would suffice to keep one full! Three rolls for the price of two after 6pm everyday. continue reading

Aussie Roll serves a wide range of delicious, quick and nutritious meals for people on the go. It provides handmade food using the finest natural ingredients. The aussie rolls are low calories and delicious, and origins from Australia. Prices range from $2.60 for a vegetarian roll to $3.00 for a soft shell crab roll. There are over 30 kinds of variety of rolls. Korean Chilli Pork ($2.60)The pork is minced quite finely and tastes more like black soya sauce meat with a hint of spicyness. Not the usual korean style which I am expected.Black Pepper Tuna ($2.60)The black pepper is coarsely chopped and tastes quite strong in flavour.Salmon ($2.60)It tastes quite light and juicy. continue reading

My sudden craving for sushi early in the morning led me to Aussie Roll as it is the only sushi place that i know of which opens at 8am. They have a wide variety of sushi flavor so it caters to all taste buds. I reached there about 10.30am and almost all of the option in their menu are already available. From vegetarian option to salmon, beef, chicken, seafood, etc; one will be spoilt for choice. The sushi cost between $2.60 to $2.80. I chose a black pepper tuna avocado sushi ($2.80). You can either eat it in a whole roll or like me, requested to be cut into smaller pieces. I was expecting black peppered tuna and was rather surprised that they actually sprinkled lots of chopped black peppercorns on the sushi, rolled with their mayo tuna and avocado instead. The peppercorn was quite chunky and it makes the sushi quite spicy. I think the sushi roll is of a good size such that one can choose how many he/she wants and can also mix flavor if he/she want to have more that one roll. The sushi rice is well flavored though it can be slightly dry because they are pre-made.This is a good option for a fuss-free quick meal. continue reading
