Was out with my mum and I decided to head to Fig & Olive for lunch. It was my first time and so I didn’t have much expectations of the restaurant. We ordered the Aglio Olio pasta ($9.80) and Chicken Enchiladas ($12.50). I tried the latter and normally I am not a big fan of tortilla bread but the chicken inside paired well with the tortilla bread. The bread is not too dense, and provided a bit of crisp at the sides. Besides the meat inside, there was some cucumbers and carrots that lent some crunch to the combination. Perfect! On the other hand the pasta was quite normal. Spaghetti tossed with garlic, olive oil, mushroom and bell pepper. Nothing stood out particularly well about this dish.Overall I enjoyed the food and would definitely return for more! continue reading

I decided to have dinner here with 2 of my other friends for gathering as the queue wasn't very long! We all ordered a main course each to share among each other and our 3 choices were classic bbq chicken pasta, magribi chicken olive rice and black pepper chicken with potato. Out of the 3, i like the classic bbq chicken pasta the best! The bbq sauce was nice and the chicken meat goes so well with the sauce! The chicken meat was also quite tender. The pasta was also well cooked and I personally like tomato sauce with pasta!! The olive rice from the magribi chicken was also nice! Quite fragrant while the magribi chicken was okay only! Maybe it was because I'm not a fan of herb sauce. Lastly, the black pepper chicken and potato was also okay only, didn't really fancy them.Overall, I think that the food was average only and i think the only good thing was that it wasn't very crowded as compared to the rest of the restaurants. Don't think I will visit this restaurant again unless I have no choice. continue reading

As we had the 1-for-1 voucher from Standard Chartered bank, we decided to fully utilise it by ordering the 2 most expensive dishes under the Gourmet Selection - Marinara Pasta and Seafood Carbonara Pasta.Marinara Pasta ($18.90++)The pasta was quite bland and average tasting. It was only after adding in significant amounts of olive oil and chili flakes before the flavours were brought out. The seafood (consisting of 2 mussels, 2 big prawns and some squid rings) was quite fresh and tasty. Seafood Cabonara Pasta ($18.90++) This pasta definitely fared much better than the former. It was creamy and coupled with a dash of olive oil, the full flavours were greatly enhanced. As with the former, the seafood toppings were fresh and tasty. True to its namesake, we found the olive oil - strategically placed on every table - the soul and spirit of every dish. Overall, the food was decent, though nothing much to shout about. Will we visit again? Probably not unless there's another 1-for-1 promo. continue reading

Tried the fig and olive student meal that come with free ice cream and drink (Coke/sprite). I did not really like the fries; firstly it was not hot and a bit soggy, like it was cooked long ago beforehand. However, the salad goes very well with the sauce, not much of the green leafy taste with mix with sauce. The vegetable they used are also fresh and juicy. On the other hand, the fish and chips as nice. It was not oily yet crispy in term of texture. However, the waiting time was too long, despite the customers did not even fill up half the restaurant. continue reading

I have went there to celebrate my malay girlfriend's birtheday. I have ordered their healthier choice selection, which is the grilled chicken. Was actually quite impressed with this dish when they served to me. Very fragrant and the chicken meat is very tender and juicy. Even the chicken skin has been cooked till fragrant as well. It is not too salty nor oily. continue reading
