Meeting up friends, Long John Silver’s was a great place to gather. Their seafood was wild-caught, fresh guaranteed. I have been eating their fish and chips for as long as I remember, but I changed to another signature this round. What I ordered was sort of Combo, three golden yellowish deep-fried chicken nuggets and whacky potatoes. Tender texture and fluffy flesh eaten, the outer layer was crunchy. High calories indeed, but calories from premium favourite food were totally worth it. $6.90 for this set, the price was quite steep for tea snack. continue reading

One of my favourite fast food alternatives is Long John Silver's. This is mainly because of their chicken and their fries. Although the portion of their food and packaging, along with their prices have underwent some evolution, the food still remains consistently nice.I usually order the 3 piece chicken set ($5.50) which comes with fries and regular drink. I like the batter used for the chicken as it is quite crispy, though the chicken inside may be quite tough. Their chilli sauce is also complements the chicken and fries very well. The chicken is quite salty on itself too so it's also fine without the chilli sauce. The fries seems to be seasoned with some special ingredients or cooked in some oil because it just turns out different from those offered at McD's and KFC. The fries is equally crispy and even when left over a period of time, it's still quite nice to munch on. continue reading

Crispy Cereal Platter $6.95This tasted really unhealthy because everything was deep-fried. The cereal was not fragrant but had a crispy texture and matched well with the fish and chicken, giving them more flavour. The fries were quite oily though. While the chicken breast meat was quite tough, the fish was soft and tender. The prawns tasted average. The heavy meal was complemented with a refreshing and light Sjora Mango Peach and it was a good match. Worth a try. continue reading

Enjoy the new special Crispy Cereal Platter from Long John. The scrumptious meal comes with cerealed fish and a chicken accompanied by 2 prawns with a portion of fries. To sum up the meal, LJS (Long John Silver) had packed Sjora Mango Peach with a splash of Cucumber flavour. Quite refreshing indeed!Cost: S$6.95Silver's Fish Supreme Combo is one of the top selling items on its menu. 2 golden brown fish fillets were sandwiched between the powdery and sauce bread with savoury tartar sauce and lettuce. The minus point of this sandwich was that one must have his/her mouth wide open in order to grab one big of it. The complete meal comes with a refreshing cup of sjora and LJS's cripsy fries. Cost: S$6.90 continue reading

Who can ever forget their times in army? I certainly cant!! Life was good sometimes and other times... not as good...This was one of the good times... When i was on half day leave some of my friends and i after duty will come over to chill out and dine at Long Johns silver.... hahaThis place was a standard routine if i ever took off after duty. Most times i would order the standard golden deal 2 which would consist of the 1 pc fish, 1 pc chicken and fries... as for the sides, i would usually order extra rice as the night before i wouldnt have anything much to eat. so yea i usually get that..The service staff is very prompt and very attentive.. Clean environment and back then as a NSF... I would spend around $6 or slightly more because of the rice. continue reading
