I was craving for thai food and luckily for me, there is a stall in Tiong Bahru market which sells thai food. The menu is quite extensive and it is all reasonably priced at around $4 to $5. I went for the pad thai. I am already salivating at the sight of it because it looked just like the pad thai that I had in Bangkok platinum mall. The rice noodle used is the thin type and it is slightly chewy and holds together much better. It is very slightly moist and it is very savoury with the shredded green mango/papaya and onions. The taste still could not be compared to those in Bangkok, but it is close to it. I would say it is one of the more authentic thai hawker stalls around. The phad thai comes with minced meat which is quite surprising to me as I have never seen phad thai with meat before. I will definitely order from this stall the next time I am craving for thai food. continue reading

My colleagues ordered their lunch from this Thai stall which they heard was quite good, hence I decided to join in their cue and also order my lunch there. I got myself a plate of Phad Thai. It comes with the shredded papaya on top of the phad thai, together with coarse peanuts. The phad thai was quite wet and it is better than I expected. I love the savoury taste of the phad thai, it is a mixture of sweet and salty and sour if you add some lime juice on to the phad thai. In addition, the peanuts add more flavour to the phad thai and the ingredients used to cook the phad thai are also fresh. I haven't eaten a lot of phad thai before but I really love the one sold here. If phad thai is not to your liking, there are other thai dishes which are also quite tasty from the comments of my colleagues. continue reading

On my recent visit again to Tiong Bahru market, I was attracted to the bright images of the thai food at this stall. I notice that the couple manning the stall are actual Thais - so I believe their food should be pretty authentic yeah? For a mere $4, I was impressed by the presentation and quality of their pad thai. There was plenty of ingredients and the dish was slightly sweet and spicy, quite delicious actually. Will definitely continue to try other items on their menus next time round!- Pad Thai ($4) continue reading
