We're back at Bedok Food Centre cos one of the colleague is craving for Ayam Penyet that we tabao for her last month. Ayam penyet (bottom left)here is very soft & they also smashed the chicken so that it's easier to consume. Chili is fantastically good & not too spicy. We also bought Tahu Goreng (bottom right). Sauce is nice & tahu (beancurd) is fried to crispy on the outside & soft inside, but I find it too much bean sprout & cucumber. Also bought Ketupak Berlauk, which comes with Triangle-sized ketupak which is quite sweet on it's own. Sambal goreng, potaoto, sambal chicken & some coconuts on it. Very interesting dish & it's quite delicious. continue reading

I didnt know which ayam penyet stall to choose from for my lunch on a sunday at around 11.45am, so I decided to que in line for this stall. There were about 6 persons in front of me so I thought it wouldn't be too long a wait. Little did i know all most of them except one lady were all queining for the rice and dishes . From the looks of it this stall seems very popular among the malay community. I didn't dare to eat the malay rice dishes so I still stick to my ayam penyet order. Finally managed to get my order after 15 mins. The stall holders were slow in getting the orders hence created a long que. Anyway, the ayam penyet was kinda dry to me. Chilli was okay..spicy enough for my liking. Tahu was fried to crispy perfection and tempeh was nice. Pity that the chicken was abit too dry.. soup was tad salty too.. continue reading

I haven't had malay food for a long time so coming here was a nice change, I ordered the Ayam Penyet $4.50, The chicken is okay , dry by nature. but one disappointing thing is they gave me almost zero crumbs which is the usual ayam penyet trademark to go with the rice! Staff was friendly. Onion soup was terribly peppery! but the fried tau kwah is nice.Rice is fragrant too. continue reading
