Full Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2014/02/jang-shou-korean-charcoal-bbq-tasting.htmlI'll be honest. I was slightly apprehensive about dining at Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ at first, because of multiple reviews slamming the inconsistent service here. Having decided to give them a try however, I'm glad I did, because Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ is serious about improving their service standards. Known amonst the local Korean community for their excellent premium quality beef and several uncommon yet traditional Korean dishes, Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ has its good points. The ambience at Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ is decent at best. Well lit with spacious and comfortable furniture organised in a neat layout, Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ offers both common room and private room dining. Ventilation within the private rooms is slightly worse than the common room, as cooking smells tend to linger in the small enclosed area. A quick check after the meal reveals that any lingering smell is present but very faint, and a short walk along the outside of the Esplanade quickly gets rid of the smell. Service at Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ is a work in progress. The CEO of Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the Korean Chamber Of Commerce in Singapore, acknowledged that service standards were poor in the past, and thus has embarked on training the staff and hiring consultants for advice. Current standards of service during my visit to Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ are decent, with no major mistakes. Staff are polite and helpful throughout the meal, assisting with cooking and serving, as well as replacing the barbecue grill after each portion is served.A good selection of banchan side dishes accompanies the meal. In particular, I loved the intense flavour of the Cabbage Kimchi, and the freshness of the prawns and squid in the Seafood And Scallion Omelette Pancake. I love that the portions at Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ are huge! Really generous, the Beef Set (SGD $96) is sufficient for 3 - 4 people, or 2 large eaters. Similarly, the Pork Set (SGD $64) has a generous portion size. Of the 2, I personally prefer the Beef Set, which I find more flavourful. Grilling is done over charcoal, infusing the meat with a smoky flavour. The Neobiani / Marinated Beef Rib (SGD $38) was easily the highlight of our visit. Extremely flavourful from the savoury sweet marinade, with a unique texture; tender with a slight chew. Our group unanimously agreed that the Neobiani / Marinated Beef Rib alone is worth a visit.Overall, I find Jang Shou Korean Charcoal BBQ to be worth a visit. Will have to wait and see if the service improves, and if they still manage to retain their position as a value for money choice for authentic Korean barbecue. continue reading

It is the authentic Korean B.B.Q. cuisine at Jang Shou Korean B.B.Q. The restaurant's charcoal B.B.Q. comes with beef and pork served with yogurt, tomatoes and olives. And korean food is trending in Singapore and therefore my friends and I came to know of this place which thought was quite good. But when we sat in, the service isn't really good. We ordered some meat and soup to go with. And there's alot of small dishes such as kimchi, ikan billis those.. But i complained about something because i saw a bug inside the soup swimming which disgust me totally! And i called for the waitress and brought to the kitchen to check. And they apologise that it is because sometimes the vegetables are not properly cleaned therefore there are such cases. And they do not do something about it such as changing the soup. Not coming here again... continue reading

Korean food are getting more popular with Singaporean especially after the popular 大长今 Korean drama. I always enjoy dining at a Korean restaurant because I will be overwhelmed by all the different side dishes they served. My friends and I went to check out Jang Shou Korean BBQ at Esplanade. The restaurant is a bit difficult to locate as the main entrance is hidden in an alley between Thai Express and Glutton Bay Makansutra. For the BBQ, you need to order at least 2 portions of meat. We went for the grilled beef rib meat and grilled chicken ribs. We also ordered kimchi casserole which had a lot of ingredients in it. A very nice dish to be eaten with the rice. Once the side dishes were served, the waiter/waitress served the meat and BBQ it for us. The food was excellent but expensive. Ventilation could be improved cos I left smelling of BBQ all over. continue reading

For the meat lovers, yes the food is awesome. But do care for your wallets coz you're paying premium for the meat that is served a-la-carte style.I recommend the marinated beef and pork. Forget fats! Think slurps! The charcoal BBQ melts aways the fats and what is left is a brilliantly tender meat, accompanied by kimchi of all kinds. It will leave you wanting more, and also leave you smelling like a greasy tard. Perfumed dates are not advised. Once you are hooked, try Jang Shou Korean BBQ in Buffet style at Katong Village. Definitely more satisifying! continue reading
