Never Eat Alone! That's the name of our group in Meetup. We have dinner at this restaurant after watching THE INTERN at Cathay Cineleisure last evening 9.00 p.m.Their premium orange juice is made of 100% juice from concentrate.Disappointment on pickled radish and coleslaw because the standard of these items has not met. The side dish of pickled radish is so sour and coleslaw is just like KFC Salad. Thanks to a cheese and honey mustard sauce, otherwise 5 of us cannot finish this dish. We did enjoy it while it is hot. Conclusion: A good choice would be to go for their spicy version, which the event host found to be a very tasty sweet sauce. continue reading

NeNe, which means 'yes yes' in Korean, is a fast food restaurant serving Korean fried chicken. Their Somerset branch is a bit bigger than the one at Star Vista (last time I failed to find a seat there). They provide plastic glove, so you can eat your chicken without dirtying your hand (but only one glove for each person, not a pair).Super Meal (2 pcs chicken - Original) - $7.90. If you don't like spicy food at all, then this is for you. The Super Meal set comes with 2 pieces fried chicken with your choice of flavor (original/swicy/spicy), buffalo sticks (fries), a box of pickled radish, and drink. The chicken was quite big, but as it was original, nothing special with it. I like their buffalo sticks, the seasoning was nice. For the pickled radish, I didn't touch it at all, because it had a disgusting smell which made me lose my appetite.Super Meal (2 pcs chicken - Swicy (Sweet & Spicy)) - $7.90. Doesn't my photo look scary? Haha. It's suitable for people who can't bear too much spiciness like me. The swicy sauce was a bit peppery, and it tasted more sweet than spicy. continue reading

Having tried the outlet at The Star Vista a year ago, the opening of Nene Chicken’s new outlet came as an excitement to me mainly because of its more accessible location. It came as a replacement to the Gong Cha outlet, which takes up the shop space next to the main entrance to *SCAPE. Being a Korean fast food outlet, Nene’s menu is made up of chicken items. Forget all about burgers; this place is all about chicken wings, tenders. Choose from a meal, then pick your preferred flavour and wait for it to be prepared before collecting (waiting time was around 15 minutes as it is prepared upon ordering, though we had experienced longer at The Star Vista)The Swicy Tenders set ($9.90) came with a box of pickled radish, a pack of regular Buffalo sticks and regular drink. We also ordered an ala-carte large Buffalo Fries ($2.50) as well.“Swicy” as it turns out was a fusion of sweet and spicy combined, as the gooey and sticky sauce provided a tangy sweet flavour followed by a subtle spiciness. It seemed rather similar to Thai chili sauce, but without the sharp spiciness. The chicken was also juicy and tender as well, and the sauce was well coated on each piece to ensure the consistency in flavour.Buffalo Sticks was the fancy name to the shoestring fries they serve here. Well-seasoned in chili powder, despite the thinness of the fries, potato was evident and the seasoning gave it a light spiciness. Due to its size, it was also less filling as well, which makes it addictive as one pops them into the mouth.Pickled Radish is a dish rarely served with fast food, and while it looks simple, these were tasty with a sweet and sour flavour that goes easy on the palate. The cubed radish is also crunchy and juicy as well. For those who are into the Korean wave, Nene Chicken is a place to check out. While I had not tried actual fried chicken from Korea, Nene Chicken had managed to convince that they do serve some authentic Korean fare around. While being a fast food restaurant, do take note that there is a minimum wait of 15 minutes for each order as everything is prepared upon order. For more photos and the full review, please visit: http://jiaksimipng.wordpress.com/2014/01/14/nene-chicken-scape/ continue reading

other than 4 fingers, i think nene chicken is one of the more popular korean fast food in singapore. This is my first time trying nene chicken and i feel that it is pretty average. I order 2pcs swicy (which means sweet + spicy) meal and it comes with a drink, fries and radish. It costs me $7.90. the chicken is not bad, tender and fresh with no blood in it. However, i do not really like the swicy taste as it is more towards to sweet taste than spicy. the fries is cprisy and nice but i do not like the radish. I will be back in future to try out the 2pcs freaking hot chicken meal instead! continue reading

There is a new korean fried chicken player in town, NeNe Chicken!NeNe (“Yes Yes” in Korean) Chicken’s 2nd outlet is located at *SCAPE. I haven’t managed to head over to Star Vista to try out their chicken, so I am glad I managed to chance upon it while looking out for a lunch spot in orchard area. Both the 2pc and tenders meal and the meals all came with 1 drink + 1 huge serving of fries + 1 pickled radish. The fries are thinner than usual and I kind of like it cause it seems to stay crispy longer! There are several flavors available for the dishes at NENE CHICKEN and they all sound so delicious! The Green Onion flavor is my favorite! Drenched in refreshing tangy onion sauce, It is one of the best choices to go for, for those who doesn’t like the spicy kick, but yet wants something strongly flavoured! This was also recommended by the service staff to us, so do go crazy with this! The Snowing Cheese was probably the least favourite that day even though it still taste pretty good. With the fried chicken, the cheese makes the entire dish even more dry than it should be. If you are a cheesy fan, this would be the item for you cause they are definitely generous with the seasoning which coats every single part of the chicken! For more pictures and prices head over to http://roundtumtums.wordpress.com/2013/10/18/nene-chicken-scape/VERDICT?I enjoyed myself at NeNe Chicken and I am already planning to convince my colleagues to join me in order this delicious meal for lunch on this Friday afternoon! If you are looking for something new to try before heading for a movie at cineleisure, no harm stopping over at NeNe chicken to give it a go! I cant wait to try the sesame flavour which sounds like it is going to be a very fragrant version of NeNe chicken!I do hope that NeNe Chicken can also keep their portions the way it is now because it definitely feels like a complete meal once we get a set. The chicken tenders are chunky and sizable. So *cross* fingers that 2 years down the road we can still enjoy this yummy generous meal! continue reading
