I saw one of Openricer recommend Han's cafe's the salted Fish Fried Rice before.Today, I got a chance to try this at Fareast plaza.Even it's lunch time peak hr, I didn't wait too long time for the fried rice, only about 10 minutes. As she recommended, The fried rice is simply delicious. But the salted fish are more salty than I expected It came with cabbage and fried egg at the top of plate. Egg are also mixed with the fried rice too.It costs $8.30. I saw other festive set meal at there, probably I will come back to try. continue reading

I was doing shopping at Far East Plaza however tummy got grumpy and headed for a fast bite at Far East Plaza. There are probably many varieties there however, I'm someone who loves dory fish. Set meal and Ala Carte is only a few dollars different. So I go for dory fish set meal. PRetty worth the price I have paid. The watermelon ain't that sweet afterall however, for this price, I doubt we should complain much. The soup was pretty creamy and thick starch. Overall, okay. The dory fish, my main course, I would say there are rooms for improvement. I feel that, it's pretty nice and fast for a quick bite. continue reading

Went for my lunch at Han's at Far east plaza. Ordered their set lunch which comes with a soup of the day, a main dish, drink and dessert. The soup of the day was cream of cauliflower. It was quite thick and creamy but it does not really have any taste of cauliflower. The fish and chips was quite a big portion. But the batter was too thick. It comes with thick cut fries and coleslaw by the side. Overall, it was quite ok considering the price i paid for it . continue reading

I've been going back to Han's consistently for their pastries and snacks, there's something about that place that captures my heart. This public holiday, I got a box of assorted tea-time snacks including: Rum ball, Sugar Roll, Raisin Roll, Blueberry Crumble, Apple Crumble and 2 curry puffs. This cost $12 exactly.Assortment of cakes and pastries..Unfortunately I did not get to eat all haha. I did try the curry puff as well as the blueberry crumble though! The blueberry crumble is of an extremely high standard. It's crusty and crumbly (well, expected haha) and has a tinge of sugar on the crust. the filling is nothing very special, ordinary blueberry filling. The pastry however is a godsend! It's slightly sweet and crispy at the edge, and when heated up it is the epitome of the perfect blueberry crumble. The crumbly bits don't disintegrate that easily, but it's loose enough for you to feel the bits of crumbly pie when you bite into it. Truly delicious for $2.40, I'd say its worth much, much more. The curry puff was slightly more disappointing. The crust wasn't as flaky nor as crisp as I'd expected, the filling was mediocre (it wasn't generous enough in my opinion). But I guess it was good that I could taste chicken bits in the filling. I don't remember the exact price of it but I doubt it goes beyond $2.50. Pastries here are very reasonably priced and you'll want to try a bit of everything. My advice though, skip the savouries and have the crumbles!!! continue reading
