One thing I like about Thai Express is the fact they diners can still get the Set Meals on a weekend! How awesome and economical is that! My family and I decided to give Thai Express a try. It was our first time visiting the restaurant. Here's the Sa-nook Roasted Chicken Set Meal. The star of this dish should supposedly be the chicken, but the chicken doesn't taste nice at all. The sauce tastes like the satay peanut sauce, but a lousier version of it. Chicken was tender though. The winter melon soup was comforting to drink, cooked Chinese style. Here's the Sa-nook Tamarind Fish Set Meal. Not too bad, I enjoyed the fish quite a lot. The batter was nice but the crust of the battered fish was soggy, perhaps due to the prolonged contact with the sauce. The sauce complemented the fish well. The Tom Yum Soup was quite delish, albeit painful to drink all at once, because it's way too spicy after awhile. Great when eaten with the rice. The papaya salad was the nicest out of the 3 dishes. Ingredients were fresh and the deep fried papaya was fragrant and crispy. Sauce used to toss the salad enhanced the flavour of the salad. The dessert reminds me of Bo Bo Char Char. Might as well get the autenthic Bo Bo Char Char from a dessert stall in the hawker centre at a much lower price, and double the portion. Also, it was stated on the menu that it was supposed to be served chilled, but the dessert wasn't chilled at all.Don't bother getting this Red Bean Coconut Milk dessert. It's a warm dessert and the coconut milk tasted salty. This dessert was so horrible and I regretted getting it.This ice blended drink that cost $6.20 is a total rip off, in my opinion. Not thirst quenching at all, and the taste of watermelon is mild. Not worth the money. continue reading
