Comforting and unique Japanese tomato-based steamboat. Very good, in fact i like it so much i actually went back to Ichibantei within the week! The broth is made up of tomato and pork bone. Very tasty and nutritious. If i didnt remember wrongly, this nabe was about $38 enough to feed 2 people with 2 bowls of rice. We had a choice between beef and pork, we chose the beef slices and it was very good! Wish they had given us more beef though. Besides beef slices, there were plenty of vegetables in the pot! Comforting on a rainy day continue reading

I was told by my friend and was highly recommended to this Japanese restaurant. Well, it turned out to be quite an dissapointment to me.It was empty when we were there. Maybe we were early for dinner that day. But it was kind of scary when there wasnt any other customers except us. So i asked my friend, are you sure that this place is really good? Why no customer one?Anyway, the food was really quite average, some items were actually below average. The seaweed that was used to wrap the sushi was soggy and soft, which tasted quite bad and not that fresh. But the cutlet and sashimi were not too bad.Well, the price was quite exp which i felt that it was not acceptable with the kind of quality of food i got from them. Definetly wont be going back for sure. My first and last time. continue reading

The place was packed when we was thereI had the tonkotsu ramen, which is several slices of char siew, a half boiled egg and some bamboo shoots in Kyushu-style broth, which is made with pork bonesthe soup was milky white from the pork bones and full of flavour, and it even had bits of fried garlic to enhance the flavour. The texture of the ramen was good too, springy and firm with lots of bite to itAnyway, service kinda sucked and the servers looked stressed to hell by the crowd,I personally didn’t find the ramen all that fantastic. continue reading

Long time never go Liang Court so I decided to go with my friend. We were thinking what we gonna have for our lunch. After walking around, we decided to dine in Ichiban Tei. I ordered Ebi & Hire Katsu Set and my friend ordered Black Pork Hire Katsu Set. When the food was served, it looks so tempting. The ebi and hire katsu stock was great, not overly salty. It is nice to go with rice. Black pork hire quite ok. Its crunchy in non-oily batter, done very well. The black pork goes well with the sauce (sesame with teriyaki) Service was okay, nothing excellent. Overall, the food was great but a little bit expensive. continue reading
