My lovely fam got me my favorite Chocolate cake from Chef Icon, a nature bakery established in 2008. The cake looks so yummy and it definitely taste as good as it looks. The cake is soft and the chocolate ganache is not too thick or overly sweet, just the way I like it to be.I had their Hokkaido roll for breakfast. The matcha sponge cake is fluffy and goes very well with the light and creamy azuki flavored cream. The cream is of a similar texture as yogurt. Hmmm how nice if Chef Icon can sell the cream as an individual item. I would be happy to replace the ice-cream in my fridge with their chilled cream.Overall I enjoyed the cakes from Chef Icon and I would love to try out their other offerings. But I am on a diet (and too lazy to travel) so perhaps I shall wait till the next time my friends buy me more yummy cakes to sample from Chef Icon. For full review, please visit >http://ahat247.wordpress.com/2014/03/17/chef-icon-nature-bakery/ continue reading

My colleague recommended me Chef Icon after she had her most amazing chocolate cake from there for her birthday. When I first visited the website, it wasn't really that eye-catchy and I was doubting if it was worth an order. After reading everything on its Avina.Neutro Baking style (no animal rennet, no animal gelatin, no animal meat, no liquor, no margarine, no MSG, no onions & garlic, no preservatives and no chemical bread improvers) and understanding the goodness of its products, I just felt compelled to order something to try as I was really curious if a chocolate cake would taste good if made in a healthier way.I was deciding between their cheesecake and chocolate cake and finally settled for a Chocolate Trovana. I was surprised at how plain the cake looked when it arrived. But looks were indeed deceiving because I could smell the cocoa fragrance the moment I lifted up the lid of the box. And immediately, I knew this was good stuff - even without tasting it.Look at how moist, smooth and luscious the texture is. It was love at first bite for me. The chocolate wasn't overly sweet, in fact it was exactly how I love it to be. The rich and intense taste of chocolate oozing all inside your mouth followed by a fragrant and bitter aftertaste of what good quality dark chocolate should leave behind - it was beyond words. The cake was very moist, so moist that I imagined myself eating a pudding rather than a cake. It was also the first time my family and I went hmm-hmm together after the very first bite. Everyone gave the thumbs up.Choc cake lovers, this is a cake to die for. If you haven't tried this, you are really missing out on good things in life! Worth every penny, worth every calorie. Bring on more! continue reading

Chef Icon Boston Cheesecake is really smooth and creamy. It is rich enough to satisfy your cheesecake craving, yet light enough not to make you feel jelat even after 2 slices. I had the Mango flavour one in the picture. There were cubes of real fresh mango in the cheesecake. The base was a moist sponge cake instead of the more common cookie base. They are sold in slices in their shop but only a selected flavour is available daily. If you want a specific flavour, you can order a whole cake from them.Their tiramisu is also not to be missed. The make the tiramisu without gelatin, eggs, coffee and liquor, Instead, it is made with alternating layers of top grade Italian mascarpone, home-baked Italian biscotti and finished with a layer of Belgium dark chocolate. A very good option for people like me who doesn't like coffee.Healthy and delicious indulgent. However, do note that they are not cheap as the quality of the ingredients they used are really good. continue reading

The location is strategic - right smack in your face when you cross the traffic light from the Outram bus interchange. We tried out 2 products in as many days. The first time there, we had something light - the acclaimed Hokkaido roll cakes. Something I vaguely remembered to have read somewhere but forgot where. Magazine maybe. Anyway, being a cake lover, what's there not to like about a rolled cake? The owner-baker at the counter assured us that only natural ingredients are used in their products, but stopped short of organic ingredients as he explained that there isn't much difference in using it. And we did tasted freshness in the mocha roll and mango roll. The mocha tasted more flavourful to me as in the cake itself had a tint of coffee. The cream in the centre was non-cloying too. The mango roll is a bit mild to me, though it did contained chunky mango bits. If we weren't in a hurry, we would settle down for a cup of hot tea or coffee each.Anyway, on Christmas eve, just before we headed on to Parsley & Thyme at the other end of the row of shophouses, we took a gamble to see if there were any cakes left to be purchased. We struck jackpot with a 500g pure Trovana cake. This verion is a true chocolate fudge cake with visible 3 layers of sponges and cream when sliced. Being made of natural ingredients, ie, no preservatives or additives, it is a kind of cake that can adjust to room temperature pretty quickly. Hence, suitable for freezing. There are other variations of thier signature Trovana cake: banana and blueberry. Both of which are rather popular choices. The Trovana Pure that we took home is chocolatey and not too sweet. For a 500g, it's possible to yield 8 servings, which is just the right portion to taste.Nonetheless, our tasting won't stop here. Next target: banana Trovana and green tea roll.btw, father of owner-chef at Parsley & Thyme highly recommends the breads from Chef Icon. Another time, another excuse to go there, I guess. continue reading
