TungLok Xihe Restaurant is located on the 7th floor of Orchard Central. You will not miss the authentic looking entrance once you step out from the lift.We heard so much about the peking duck and we had really wanted to try the famous peking duck. However, you need to wait for 50 minutes and the two of us probably cannot finish one duck by ourselves. Hence, we opted for the Set Lunch which costs SGD$58++ per person this time round and will return with more family members to try the peking duck.Double boiled live prawn and scallops with superior soup served in young coconutThe first dish served was the hot soup. I liked the refreshing broth. There were fresh prawns and scallops in the soup. They served the soup in a coconut which is something different.Steamed cod fillet with shredded ginger and "Chen Pi"The cod fish was smooth and not too "milky", and I liked it prepared this way, steamed it and eat it while it is hot. The serving was not too huge and it was just right. Pan-Fried Kurobuta PorkThe pork ribs were tender and soft and easy to chew. I love the presentation!Stir-fried asparagus with fungus and macadamia nutsThe only vegetable dish served, the combination of asaparagus, fungus and macadmia nuts was quite interesting. I love the macadamia nuts the most and hope that they had put in more nuts to this dish.Fried rice with Dried Conpoy and SeafoodI found the fried rice too plain and luckily they provided me with green chillies to go with the fried rice. The presentation is nice and the serving was too generous for one person.Double boiled Hashima with AlmondI was too full to enjoy this hot dessert. The hashima has a strong distinct almond smell and taste. It would be nice if they had substituted this dessert with chilled mango pudding.Overall, a decent place for a reasonable set lunch. The ambience is nicely decorated and the food and customer services are acceptable. I still hope to try the Peking Duck one day! continue reading
