For more Food Reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.comI was kind of surprise when someone suggested to have Braised Duck Rice from East Coast Lagoon Food Village. It's kind of out of the usual days as most of the time I would prefer Satay, Rojak or even the barbecued and grilled food from the food village.Turning up at the stall myself, the amount of media articles they had had convinced me further that I would not mind lending my stomach space to such local delicacies.Braised Duck Platter for two looked decent with thick sticky type of braised sauce ladled onto them coupled with Tau Gua.Gravy was good and was sweet with herbs taste but it was not too overpowering.Comparing to many other braised duck stalls I had in Singapore, this is arguably one of the decent ones and I would say exceptionally good! Duck meat was not too old, easy on the jaws.Rice was flavourful and darker than the usual yam rice. Even without the meat, I can easily finish a bowl of it.Porridge had a smooth consistency and not totally watery. Their generosity in the "Lor" gravy was something I look upon to. Total satisfaction! For those who can't have braised duck without the chilli, this is good news. The chilli was fragrant packed with fried anchovies taste. On the other hand, the soup tasted abit herbal and sweet, luckily not on the peppery side.Perhaps if you were to ask if I will want to come back again for their duck rice,I would not hesitate and answer yes! continue reading

It was a saturday water training at bedok reservoir and the plan was to eat at bedok interchange with the team.Little did we imagine there'd be a massive restructuring of the carpark. A hungry driver is an angry driver so he decided to speed us off to east coast lagoon to eat.At 230pm in the afternoon, it was a pleasure to be there with cooling breeze and a manageable queue. my every bit of yum.I enjoyed the boneless braised duck with my favourite gravy and a lot more for the chilli of course. perfect saturday afternoon lunch. continue reading

Eventhough this stall may be hiding at one corner of this food village, but you will be really contented on how delicious the foods served from this stall. The duck meat is very tender and juicy and the braised sauce is thick and really fragrant as well. Infact, even the normal hard boiled braised eggs are equally delicious too. You will never feel of having enough of it and great to have it with the plain rice and porridge too. continue reading

Went cycling at east coast park and decided to have dinner at the east coast lagoon!Ate the duck rice shared among 3 people and it was pretty good! Heard that their duck porridge is even more awesome but they did not have anymore when i was there. However, i think they should give more duck meat and not duck skin Hate duck skin! But overall its quite nice. Will go back for the porridge. continue reading

The duck porridge here is pretty good. The sauce for the porridge makes it rather tasty. Luckily it is not overly salty like what some other stalls are like. The duck comes in little chunks inside the porridge. The duck meat isn't spectacular, perhaps it's little pieces instead of a nicely chopped section of the duck. I would say that the porridge itself is laudable as it is cooked until the rice is very soft. continue reading
