Lagoon Carrot Cake has fulfilled much of our expectations, it has the right texture and softness, great seasoning and white radish taste, Crispy exterior but soft with right moist interior as well as generous portion of eggs. This is one of the real good one in Singapore. We slurped up a sizable plate of the carrot cake and made our way back to the stall for a second serving. Please refer to www.ieatandeat.com for details review. continue reading

In case you haven’t met the yummiest Carrot Cake, then try at Lagoon. Absolutely correct texture and seasoning flavour, steamed radish was based on secret recipe. The queue was there when I want to order but the waiting time was still acceptable. There was white and black style, we prefer the latter because it was more flavoursome as compared. Freshly fried in front of customers, it was best eaten while it still hot.A lot of garlic and preserved turnip putting in, the fragrant of darkening radish was awesome. Generous portion of eggs and shrimps, the plate was perfectly masked by sweet soy sauce. Slightly crisp outlay, cubes were moistly soft when bite. $5.00 for medium version, we shared among us. Finished up entire, it was the most delicious one I had ever. continue reading

This carrot cake stall sells really good popiah too! The popiah is really unique as it contains many ingredients not typical of regular popiahs. I especially like the crabsticks they put in, they really add an extra flavor dimension to the popiah. They are also very generous with peanuts so you get a really fragrant crunch with every bite! The fried egg they put into the popiah is pretty good too! continue reading

Carrot Cake is something not to be missed in authentic Teochew cuisine. Also known as "chai tow kway" in the language, it is made with cubes of radish cake, stir-fried with eggs, preserved radish and other assorted ingredients, such as dried shrimps and chopped spring onions.Cycling down East Coast Park on a hot sunny morning, a bunch of friends and I decided to get some quick bites, as well to quench our thirst with ice-cold sugarcane juice. So there was this plate of fried carrot cake (S$3.00) that my dear friend, Jesline ordered and little did I know, it was voted in a contest by Citygas and Shin Min News Daily as one of the top eight carrot cake stalls in early 2011.The chefs at Lagoon Carrot Cake really know their stuff well - carrot cake and eggs pressed down and fried together till lightly crisp and golden brown, which brings along a strong savoury fragrance. Unlike the common ones, their carrot cakes are less moist and slightly more starchy. The fresh shrimps (additional S$1) and spring onions added an extra oomph, while the homemade chilli brought the dish to another level. For health gurus, it is definitely worth putting your diet plans aside for once, and just enjoy this plate of sinful goodness. continue reading

This is a memorable dinning moment for me because we were there for the first time on a rainy Saturday. That was the first time for myself and partner to be at East Coast Food Village. The East Coast Food Village can be one of the worst places to be on a wet day but we still decided to make the best outta it. A friend recommended this particular stall for fried carrot cake and we decided to try it. The stall was rather quiet with only a customer right in front of us. We ordered and waited for just a little while before we gotten our order of black fried carrot cake. When being given an option to choose between a black and a white carrot cake, we usually go for the black as we enjoy the taste of the dark sweet sauce. And, this particular plate of black fried carrot cake tasted disappointingly average. It tasted passable, better than most but it is not outstanding enough to leave an impression or reckon a come back. The carrot cake was pretty soft and when fried it well with the dark sweet sauce, it tasted pleasant. Perhaps our expectation is a little too high hence it failed to impress us. But, we might come back another time to give it another go. continue reading
