was recommended to this shop and decided to join in the office crowd at raffles area to queue for this beef kway teow. Waited for a good 10 minutes before we got a seat. Ordered the dry version of the beef kway teow noodle. It cost $6. Quite expensive I thought. The kway teow in the thick beefy brown sauce with beef pieces was sprinkled with beansprouts, salted vegetables and chopped peanuts. The sauce is thick but pretty good. It was not starchy in anyway. But frankly, I had had better beef noodles, so I cannot understand the hype and the queue. continue reading

I love this beef noodle right away i ate that, the sauce is nice with their nice chilli sauce, their beef slices are very tender, price a bit too high but worth to eat, their beef soup also very fragrant, the condiments all mixed together, actually you no need any chilli to eat also can, strongly recommended for beef noodle lovers, this stall is addictive, they are crowded during lunch time, do go early, they also got a mixed bowl of all parts of beef (all time popular customer will order too). overall it is one of the best beef noodles in Central. continue reading

Though I am not a fan of beef noodles (as I find that most beef noodles have a very weird taste), I love the beef noodles from this place and will definitely wanna visit it again. The sauce goes very well with the noodles and the chef is very generous with the ingredients.I have tried that beef noodles from another Hock Lam the one at Far East Square) and I feel that there is a different in taste. The beef noodle from this place is definitely better...no wonder it is called the authentic Hock Lam. continue reading

This is the best I've ever tasted. It stands next to the one I had in Amoy Street market. I like it so much that I practically clean the bowl (noodles, beef, soup and all) every single time I take this. My next love would be the chili sauce. I normally need 2 packet of chili for one bowl of noodles. AND I would never fail to ask for an upsize A small bowl wouldn't be enough for me. continue reading

Had my dinner with my wife there after hearing some good reviews from friends.Only 2 tables were ocupied around 6.30pm. Our first impression was - is it really that good? The kway teow comes in $4.50, $5.50 and $6.50. We ordered 2 bowls $4.50 and lime juice at $1.20. Lime juice came in a very small cup. It was disappointing. The beef kway teow came and we were disappointed by the portion of the kway teow and beef slices. They must be cutting cost due to inflation. Probably due to the small portion, we walked away feeling no satisfaction on our stomachs.Service was nothing to shout about either. Pretty bland and uninspiring. If Hock Lam is still around, he will not be happy. continue reading
