Basically my friend and I decided to try this place out because of all the rave reviews from well known food bloggers. We were much disappointed and I am losing faith in bloggers.I don't think the restaurant can ever price their buffet at $99.80++ (as per their pull up banner). Even at their SG50 promotion of $55++ it is a huge stretch. Here's why:1) Meats are only average tasting. Wagu Ruso is nicely marbled but that's about it. It isn't exceptionally tender as claimed it should be. Though they have special items that you seldom see on menus such as beef tongue and pork cheek they were not well marinated. The marinade for the scallop was visabily just placed or scooped on top of the fish/shellfish. Same applies for the pork cheek. The Wagu Tataki (lightly grilled wagu beef sashimi) was already cooked medium well and not at all like the capacio looking beef in the picture. The Wagu beef yukke tasted basically like minced/shreaded beef in egg yolk.2) Sashimi is questionable, not very fresh, limp to the touch and the texture is not firm. The salmon, tuna, tai and white tuna lacked the freshness and sweetness of even supermarket sashimi. 3) The side dishes of deep fried items such as ebi, fried oysters and fried squid were displayed buffet style. However, they were not placed under a heating lamp so all the dishes were luke warm. Similarly for the buffet style sushi, there was no chiller so it too was luke warm.3) Staff are very discouraging of us ordering Wagu sashimi, we only managed to order it in our 2nd round. This was quite disappointing as after our 1st order we realised that it was worth ordering. Beef's colour was vibrant and very well marbled. If there is one thing you must order (and order 25 plates of) to make the whole trip some what worth while, this is the dish. 4) The grill is not hot enough, 1 hour plus into dinner we were still half way through grilling our first order. We are only given 2 hours for the buffet. Talk about stress eating.5) Where's the service? From about 9.20pm to 9.30pm, when we were trying to make our 2nd round of orders, staff were no where to be seen. I had to walk up to the cashier to make the order. 6) Where is the service, part 2? I was not told that it was supposed our last order either, they just assumed it was rather inconvenient when we tried to make our "last order".7) For a specialist grill restaurant they no vents. After the whole meal you're left hot, bothered and very smoky.8) At $55++ (or full price $99.80++) you would expect some drinks to be included. This is not so. For free flow of water it's an additional $1++. For free flow of soft drinks, green tea and ice-cream, an additional $5++. In addition (to the additions), they charge additional for the disposal wet towel.9) Do note that soft drinks are not dispensed from a machines and you have to pour it from the 1.2 litre bottles. This means that the carbonated drinks are not as fizzy as they should be.10) The food is nothing to rave about, bad service (if any) and an unsastisfactory experience! continue reading
