Canton Paradise: Bringing the Essence of HK to Singapore
2012-03-14
Canton Paradise is the latest concept restaurant from Paradise Group. Its first outlet is located at 112 Katong Mall and it will be followed closely with a second outlet at JCUBE Shopping Centre and a third one in the city. Bringing the essence of Hong Kong to Singapore, the spacious 250-seater restaurant exudes an Oriental vibe with its simple decoration and partitions. When you browse their menu, you'd notice that they have so many dishes to offer. This is one reason why Canton Paradise is the perfect hangout place for families and friends. When you get the chance to try out Canton Paradise, make sure you try their Cantonese favourites, dim sums, as well as an array of Shunde specialties.
Baked BBQ Honey Pork Bun
One of their must-haves is the Baked BBQ Honey Pork Bun ($4.50 for 3), which is available all day long! The bun is lightly baked and has a crusty exterior. It is also light and fluffy on the inside and its bun-to-filling ratio just right. The honey pork filling also has a good mix of sweet and savoury notes.
Fried Pumpkin Coated with Salted Egg Yolk & Mixed Nuts
For appetisers, the Fried Pumpkin Coated with Salted Egg Yolk & Mixed Nuts ($7.80) is an addictive finger food that is lightly battered and fried to a golden crisp. The best part about it is its soft and moist pumpkin interior.
BBQ Pork Belly
The Canton Crispy BBQ Pork ($15.80) features fatty pork that has been slow-roasted for four hours to achieve perfection. Moderation is the key for this irresistible dish with a golden brown crust; it is crispy without being as cloyingly oily as you might have imagined it to be.
Canton Crispy BBQ Pork
The BBQ Pork Belly with Honey Sauce ($15.80) is very popular with families (young and old) and it's easy to see why. This fatty char siew using the pork belly cut has a nice caramelised crust with tender meat that almost melts in the mouth.
Poached Sea Bass with Pickled Cabbage in Fish Stock
For $28.80, the generous silvers of fresh and succulent sea bass is value for money. It is served in heavily spiced stock of fresh green, red, and dried chilli, and peppercorns. This makes the dish spicy with a kick. Highly recommended!
Custard Glutinous Rice Ball
The Custard Glutinous Rice Ball ($4.80 for 3 pieces) with Grated Oat is an innovative twist from the conventional ones we are familiar with. The crisp oat crust against the starchy yet not overly chewy glutinous rice ball is a perfect combination. The surprising element lies within, when a molten custard centre oozes out upon your first bite. To refresh yourself, you can have their signature drink. Differing from the conventional milk tea, the Gula Melaka Milk Tea is a soothing mix of tea, evaporated milk, coconut milk and Gula Melaka syrup –it is a must-try! -- Address: B1-15 |12 Katong, 112 East Coast Road, Singapore Tel.
