If you just want to take a break from the busy city life, Canopy Dining Restaurant and Bar is the answer. Situated in the heart of Bishan Park, the restaurant serves as a breather to those who would like to de-stress, relax, and dine in peace.
OpenRice was lucky enough to be invited by the Asmara Lifestyle Group to dine at Canopy Dining Restaurant and Bar. The eight-course dinner was provided by the The Green Room Cafe, which is located just next to them.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an ORTU without inviting some of our OpenRicers to join us. It was a bigger crowd this time as 10 of our members got the chance to join us. We started the course with the Mango Prawn Salad followed by the Apple Duck Salad. Both were very refreshing to the palate and it worked up all our appetites for the many dishes which followed.
Now that we were all wanting for more, the Asian Chicken Pasta was served next. I liked the fact that there were more tomatoes, green mangoes, and chicken chunks in it rather than the pasta itself. It was also a bit spicy, and this only added to its very distinct taste. The other pasta served was the Green Curry Pasta. It was the first time I’ve heard of such dish, but I enjoyed tasting it. It was a bit spicy and creamy at the same time. It was also topped with a chunk of tender and juicy meat just to offset the creaminess of the sauce.
After the pasta, it was now time for some pizza! We were given two different flavours—the Margherita Pizza and the Apple Smoked Duck Pizza. For me, the stand out was definitely the Apple Smoked Duck Pizza just because of its smoky flavour. It was also topped with greens (for a more nutritious version) and their special dressing.
Meatballs were also part of the menu, however, I did not quite enjoy this for it was a bit too salty for me. The last dish for the night was the Bavarian Platter, which was a plate full of meat (hotdog, sauerkat, etc.)! At this point, I couldn’t really enjoy the dish anymore because my stomach couldn’t handle it anymore.
