A bustling night spot like Boat Quay might be the last place anyone would consider for breakfast or brunch – making it all the more an ideal location for anyone looking for a tranquil meal in the mornings. Harry’s at Boat Quay serves an exclusive breakfast menu from 8am till 10.30am daily. You can choose to dine alfresco along the Singapore River, seek air-conditioned comfort indoors or have a croissant and/or muffins to-go. Together with nine of our invited members, OpenRice Singapore recently hosted a food tasting session at Harry’s (Boat Quay), where we were treated to 6 types of Modern European Comfort Food for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Check out their individual reviews here.

We were off to a good but sinful start with the Croissant Croque Monsieur (above) – a buttery and soft croissant filled with ham and melted cheese, dressed generously with béchamel sauce. A tasteful combination of two classic French recipes, this dish turned out to be a favourite amongst most attendees during our post-tasting survey.

Next came Harry’s range of Assorted Muffins (right) in 4 flavours: Banana and Peanut Butter, Raisins and Walnuts, Granny Smith, and Raspberry with Cheese. What had one of our members raving was the Soft Boiled Eggs & Marmite Soldiers (below left). Think hot soft boiled eggs served in a mini-ceramic pot, dipped with a side of savoury and cheesy marmite soldiers. The second choice dish amongst our members – Chicken Pot Pie – won with its crisp exterior that contrasted well with the creamy chicken filling, which made for a rather hearty pick.

Lastly, we had the Ham, Bacon and Mushroom Fry Up (above right front), served alongside the vegetarian alternative, Vegetable Fry Up (above right back). Each dish comprised one sunny side up fried with an assortment of ingredients and two slices of toast bread – a condensed version of Harry’s Champion Breakfast, the restaurant’s equivalent of an English breakfast set. Harry's believes that "there’s something for every personality in (their) brand new breakfast menu – so check it out one of these days!". Prices range from $2.90 - $14.
