Hang Out at Tigerlily, Dempsey’s Newest Tapas Bar
2013-05-13
Dempsey is arguably one of our top destinations when it comes to some late night bites and drinks. Well, if you ever decide to hang out here any time of the week, why don’t you visit the latest addition to the restaurant and bar scene — Tigerlily?
Here's the new player at Dempsey Hill--Tigerlily
Located where Dempsey Brasserie used to be, the Asian tapas bar promises you a relaxing and enjoyable experience within its unique and cosy interior.
The ceiling is adorned with cages with lights in them instead of birds
As soon as you step inside this place, you will immediately be mesmerised with its unique décor. Hanging from the ceiling are 88 birdcage lights which remind you of HK director Wang Kai Wai’s movies (that is, if you're familiar with his works). These lights give a warm yellow glow to the bar and accentuate the oriental furnishings of this tapas bar. At Tigerlily, you can drink and be merry with the wide range of alcoholic beverages on its menu. Beer drinkers can cheers to draught beers such as Heineken or Guinness. There are also Asian bottled beers available which include Chang, Huda, Asahi, or Tsingtao. Aside from these, there are also 10 cocktails to choose from. You can have the usual ones but if you’re feeling adventurous, you can have the signature drink of Tigerlily Pimms. Don’t be fooled by this for it may seem refreshing on first sip, thanks to the lemon grass, but it is a strong concoction. Sometimes, though, what you want isn’t on the drinks list. If that’s the case, you can always customise your tipples. Just ask the bartender and he would be happy to do it for you! Drinks won’t be complete without small bites, right? At Tigerlily, the menu has more than these munchies. There is real food which is inspired by some Asian dishes. Some hot favourites are the Peking Pulled Pork and Spicy Siam.
Here are just some of the small plate options to order at Tigerlily
For the small plates, Chef Patrick Tan mentioned that his team didn’t want to veer away too much from the Asian bites we’re accustomed to. As such, expect familiar Vietnamese dishes such as the Beef Pho Noodles and Caramelised Pork Belly Rolls.
Local favourites are also included in Tigerlily's menu
Local favourites like the Singapore Chili Crab Dip, Chicken Satay, and Spicy Tom Yam Noodles shouldn’t be missed, too. Prices of these dishes start from as low as $8 and top out at $18. So yes, this after work hangout place has very reasonable prices. While you feast on these bar bites and drinks, you can also enjoy some good ‘ol live music courtesy of the house band. These bands play 6 nights a week to liven up your boring nights! Photos courtesy of Tigerlily See Also: Bars and lounges worth checking out Explore Dempsey for more food options
