Local Favourites at Bai Jia Cafe
2013-04-05
No matter what, local cuisine will always be comfort food to us. Our culinary creations make Singapore truly unique and we can’t help but pig out 24/7 with all this good food around. At this quaint little eatery tucked away in the heartlands of Jurong West, Bai Jia Cafe highlights some of Singapore’s most classic dishes and for this Food Tasting session our OpenRicers got to bite into all of them!
Curry chicken, Thai-style tofu, laksa, pork belly with preserved vegetables, the signature tofu and curry fish head (pictured above, clockwise from top left) were just some of the dishes on the tasting menu. The laksa and the tofu dishes were hot favourites of the OpenRicers, who seemed to love the laksa and Thai-style tofu dishes because of the perfect amount of spice (not too much and not too little), and the signature tofu choice because of the combination of ingredients, like chestnut, prawn and even black fungus.

Simple and satisfying – that’s how a Singaporean feast should be done and thanks to Bai Jia Cafe, it was a success! The next time you’re in the area, drop by for a taste of local fare. Oh, and if you’re an NTU student, you get a 15% discount! Enjoy!
