Italian-Japanese restaurant NUVO continues to pique our interest on our return visit, with enticing menu add-ons, a spiffy lounge (with a new cocktail programme), as well as wallet-friendly set lunches and dinners to boot.
The best of Italian & Japanese cuisines
Fuji Apple and Parmigiano-Reggiano Torta
Joining pasta favourites such as the Angel Hair Wakame ($18/$24) and Lobster Risotto ($28/$33), is their new Smoked Uni Carbonara ($38). The uni is cured with Mugicha and cooked with Applewood smoked bacon and crayfish, before truffle soil and an Onsen Egg are added to the dish. Do note that it comes in a hefty portion, so share the love!
Hearty-meaty mains you might enjoy as much as we did, include the Japones Australian Lamb Shank ($38), a three-component success of Australian lamb shank prepared sous vide with limoncello and yuzu salt, a bed of organic fregola sarda and an addictive side of crispy kale.
Make sure you leave some room for dessert because you wouldn’t want to miss out on NUVO’s new dessert-darling , the Fuji Apple and Parmigiano-Reggiano Torta ($14). While it is both baked with and gratinated with Parmesean, the intense cheesiness is balanced out by fresh Fuji apples, honey and wild fig ice cream.
Karagin
Signature egg white cocktails
Clink your glasses to the restaurant’s exclusive cocktail programme, fronted by Head bartender Bani, who is a fan of mixing egg white into his cocktails.
His signature creations include Karagin ($24), concocted with Sipsmith gin, spiced berry puree and egg white amongst others and Celina’s Sip ($25) – a light mix of vodka, grapefruit and egg white.
Wallet-friendly set menus
Grab their $15++ set lunch deal (available weekdays from 11.30am to 3pm), which comprises a starter, main and dessert with selections like Mugicha Smoked Salmon, Confit Duck and Wild Honey Panna Cotta.
Absolutely value-for-money is their 4-course dinner menu starting from $35++, featuring new entrees like Angus Osso Buco Stew, as well as signature mains like Kurobuta Pork Belly.
