Char Siew Bun Smile
2012-05-02
Happy Girl (1321 Review(s))

The handmade buns here have one of the best buns' texture. My favourite buns here are their char siew buns. The buns are compact but is moist and soft, really easy to eat and swallow in. If you happen to eat other buns, some places have those buns which are so difficult to swallow and you may need to drink alot of water to assist in the swallowing. The char siew is marinated well and has been barberqued till quite crispy in texture before diced it for the filling. Not much pork fats can be found in the buns, so you will not feel too sinful eating it. The price is also reasonable and well like by the toa payoh neighbourings too.

I'm always on a look out for Teochew food! I love the local food from teochews. So, when I found out that there was a humble shop in Toa Payoh selling mini Teochew handmade baos, I knew that I had to get my hands on some!
I absolutely loved their siew mai and big pau! Thin and soft skin with a generous amount of filling. I love siew mai a lot.

I frequently buy from this stall as everyone at home loved the paus here. The pau skin is thin and it is soft even after leaving it out for a while. They are very generous with the pau filling no matter which pau you order. My favourite is the tau sia pau and as you can see, the tau sia filling is a lot. The tau sia is rich, smooth and not too sweet. They are quite small in size, so you can afford to get a few more varieties to try!

I love eating their char siew pau the most. I am one of their regular customers and have been eating it faithfully for many years and still loving it. The size is quite small at 0.50 cents for each. The skin was quite thin with nice and juicy filling. I can eat 4 at one go. A good choice for my afternoon snack. That is the reason why i need at least a dozen of it to bring home.

Teo Chew Handmade Pau Smile

This is one of the most famous stall at the Toa Payoh West Market & Food Court. Whenever i am at the Toa Payoh West Market & Food Court, i will order a bunch of paus from the Teo Chew Handmade Pau. The paus are bite size and the skin is really thin. One bite and the filling will ooze out. My fav is the char siew and stew pork pau. Do come earlier as the stew pork pau will sell out very fast as the stew pork is very fragrant and the pau skin is very soft.
