http://www.umakemehungry.com/2017/11/angus-house.htmlI have been walking pass Angus House umpteenth times but never has the chance to step in until just this year. It was a celebration meal for a birthday and finally we had the chance to explore Angus House. Angus House is quite easy to locate as she is on the 4th Level of Takashimaya, next to the Toys / Children Department .  I quite like this open concept kitchen part of the restaurant whereby we were able to take a click preview of the chef busying in the kitchen. Internally is well lited, under the spacious and romantic lights, environment makes it cozy and relaxing. With attentive servers around, I would say that their service is prompt and smiley.  It is perfect place for a first date. Also, it is recommended to make reservation and secure a seat. We were there for steak but to make it a meal with appetizer, soup, salad, bread and dessert, we topped up $15 each and find it quite worthy. Appetizer was a big piece of salmon with flaky bread stick and sweet sauce. Reminds of my Mos Burger Style of Salad and immediately I know they are common as its Japanese! Greens was crunchy with cherry tomato, Japanese cucumber, corn kernels, cabbages and dressed with roasted sesame sauce. Salad We had the escargot as our sides. Well baked with herbs and butter, served sizzling hot. I'm not really a fan of these shells but I think the style of preparation were rather fragrant. You can still hear the sizzling and bubbling effect of butter together with escargot when they serve to the table. Environment was quite cold and just right with a warm bowl of calm chowder. This is not the usual Western Style Steak I had. In case you are not aware, Angus House is mainly serving Japanese Style Beef Steak as well as pasta and the type of serving may not be what you have on mind if you are thinking along Morton's Style. The 200g Sirloin Steak comes in a sizzling hot plate direct from the kitchen in Medium-Well doneness as requested. A piece of savoury herb butter and slice of lemon was placed on the steak, as the heat rises, the butter melts accordingly. Steak was definitely soft and texture was friendly with the knife. While the man had a bigger portion of 300g Steak from the Rib Eye at Medium doneness. Similarly, the steak was juicy and tender just like I had my Sirloin. Desserts have option of Cheese Cake or Tiramisu. Since we are having 2 sets, we opted for both and ended our dinner with sweet endings. Cheese cake came with a very moist biscuit base and was light in taste, not too cloying. I love the Cereal and the dash of raspberry sauce and cream by the side.d Tiramisu was light and tasty coupled with honey melon, dragonfruit, mint leaf and strawberry. It was real good and in fact I dont mind having another piece if they do offer. At least I can strike off the To Visit / To Eat from my list after visiting Angus House. The quality of food and service are commendable. I won't hesitate to recommend my friends here if they want to try Japanese Style Beef. continue reading

If you're looking to have a good rest from all the shopping in Orchard Road, I would suggest you dine here. Tucked away on the 4th floor of Takashimaya shopping centre is a seemingly incongruous restaurant with a plain white exterior. The interior is fairly sparse as well but do try the steak! I had the Sirlion steak which comes with soup, bread roll, salad and dessert. I love the steak here because they always do it well and to the degree of done-ness that you want. But the other thing that gets me raving is their bread roll. It's just FANTASTIC! Toasty on the outside, with the soft, slightly chewy white on the inside, I always wish I could have more! (That said, I've never tried asking, maybe next time). It's baked fresh daily so you know you're never having stale store bought stuff. One small complaint is that I feel the salad could have a bit more variety of vegetables; it consisted mainly of corn, lettuce and shreds of carrot. Some onions, rocket leaves, spinach leaves or even beetroot would jazz the salad up! continue reading

Quality fine cut steak can be found in this western restaurant. Their steak is really thick in portion and the beef meat is very tender and juicy. It is pan fried till really nice brown colour and the natural sweetness from the beef is very tasty. Love those home-made sauce here which really enhance the taste of the steak. The french fries are also very crispy and not too oily as well. Would recommend my friends to come here as the food here is really yummy! continue reading

My husband had bring me to Angus Seak House at Orchard Ngee Ann City. I like the environment, romantic. Food is good and price are very reasonable for a full course meal. Servce is very good. When we order the steak, they will ask how many grams (size of the portion). I always eat medium rare. Definitely, will go together with husband again to enjoy romantic dinner. continue reading

While I do not take beef, I knew there were different cuts , types , marbling factors to consider for a slab of quality beef. Japanese Wagyu, Kobe & The Angus Beef are enjoyed due to their tender and degree of marbling. Now, the question is, where to enjoy them?- Lawry’s the prime ribs, Black Angus Steakhouse, Morton’s the Steakhouse..are some well-known places for quality beef.If you would like to enjoy quality beef at a lower budget, consider Angus House, located at Level 4 of Takasahimaya Shopping Centre. They offer quality beefs as well as charcoal-grilled seafood . The food here is a fusion of Japanese & American cuisine & expect Japanese-styled salads and more. The Menu is simple, the different types of beef, charcoal grilled seafood, a range of pastas and a set menu. The set menu comes with choice for your mains , bread, rice, dessert, salad, soup of the day & Tiramisu + coffee/ tea. I would suggest to order the set as it is only $6 difference in the pricing.Soup of the day: Carrot soupSaladA japanese styled California Salad with Wafu dressing. They included 2 extra sides- corn grits and potato salad .Charcoal grilled seafood set ( King prawns, cuttlefish & scallops ) $33++The grilled seafood came sizzling and served on a sizzling pan. It smells aromatic due to the charcoal flame. The 2 King prawns were charred and smoky but the shell came off easily. The Cuttlefish were over-grilled resulting in tough and chewy texture, like eating rubber!Charred King prawnsI forgot to take a shot of the Tiramisu cos the I was busy eating but anyway the Tiramisu is award-winning so it was good.Verdict: I enjoyed the charcoal-grilled seafood and prices are reasonable . Reservations are recommended as the place seemed to be full on weekends .The scallops were juicy and infused with the smoky flavour… I like this! continue reading
