It's a quiet Monday morning. Not many customers. I ordered a plate of black carrot cake. Before cooking, the auntie scrapped away the chao da (burnt leftover) at the side of the wok with the spatula. Beside her, there was a big rubbish bin. She held the spatula and hit on the bin a few times until the chao da dropped off. Then she started to cook. This will be my first and also last time eating there. continue reading

Chanced upon this stall. I have tried the one at bedok north blk 85 itself, but this is the first branch that i've come across in another coffeeshop. So i have decided to give it a try. Ordered the black carrot cake and i was amazed by how tasty it is. With the option to have it spicy or not? i had mine just a little and it was already great. The most important thing is that it does not fare much different to the one in blk 85 bedok north itself. The stall sells other things like the famous fried oyster omelette, which i didn't try. Will definitely come by to try it next time. continue reading

not really a pleasant experience, ordered a plate of fried kway teow, however even before the old man start to cook, he drop the disposable plate on the floor, then pick it up and put the un-cook food on the plate. not even bothered to change the plate for hygiene purpose, nevermind about that. what more unpleasant is that he continue to use the same plate to serve with the cooked food on it.anyway the kway teow just taste normal, nothing really special about it. it has egg shell in it, and there the plastic skin of the sausage he cook with together with the noodles. continue reading

My comment for this stall is that luck will get you the best quality. Why? Because, at times the oysters can be big, juicy and fresh with minimal oil. However, at other times, the oyster may turn out vice versa (shriveled and clearly not fresh). The good thing about the dish though is that the eggy yellow floury you know what I mean part, is... "QQ" enough. (Pardon me for the lack vocab, but it is really... "QQ") and the chilli complements real well with a slight tangy sourness to it and spicy level is just right.Oh well, if you're up to it to test your luck, go ahead! continue reading

Seeing as the carrot cake price is quite reasonable, I decided to order one black carrot cake to try. The smaller portion is as expected since it costs just $2. Tastewise, the fried carrot cake was quite delicious with the sweet sauce and the chilli. The sweet sauce is not overly excessive and you can still taste some of the original taste of the carrot cake. The white one seems especially popular as well, maybe next time I will try that. continue reading
