It's not my first time visting but the experience this time is bad. My family and I chose to visit for dinner before this outlet closes in June. We had rosti with grilled sausage, waffle with ice cream, grilled salmon, Honey BBQ Ribs (upsized), rootbeer float and Baked rosti & cheese. The rosti with grilled sausage and baked rosti & cheese are both really small portion. I remembered the rosti was a big plate with full size. Why is it getting smaller? Waffle with ice cream was still good. Grilled salmon was okay but the rice was dry. Honey BBQ ribs was okay. Most importantly, their hygiene was bad. Utensils was not clean. Cups for filling plain water wasn't clean well too. A total disappointment continue reading

Buddy Hoagies is a restaurant cafe specialising in western cuisine. I did not call it a restaurant became it has a friendly and relaxed ambience which is child friendly too. Moreover, the photo frames of English oldies singers and environment gave a unique warm comfort country feel. I visited Buddy Hoagies on a weekday evening for dinner at Yishun. They have two other outlets at Bukit Timah and Downtown East.During my visit, I noticed that there were quite a number of children in the cafe. After walking around, I knew the reasons. Buddy Hoagies was a children friendly cafe! They had plastic utensils (spoon, forks, plates) for kids (not those disposable ones) and a corner filled toys for children to play. Some children even brought the toys to their tables where they could play while waiting for the food to be served. Not bad, I did not notice any children playing with ipad or any mobile devices! There was an option to upgrade the main course to a Buddy's Set Meal for $4.50 which would include soup & garlic toast, coffee/tea/ ice tea and ice cream. We ordered a Fish and Chips and upgraded it to a Set Meal ($13.40), followed by a Western BBQ Chicken ($8.90) and Cheese Fries ($3.50). TeaCream of Mushroom & Garlic ToastThe Cream of Mushroom was average. It was too thick for my liking while the Garlic Toast was a tad too hard. Cheese Fries $3.50The Cheese Fries $3.50 tasted quite good when it was still warm. When it cooled down, the cheese became hard and the fries at the bottom were soggy. Fish and ChipsThe Fish and Chips $8.90 served with fries fared better. Though they could be more generous with their servings, both items were not overly oily. In addition, the fish was slight moist in the interior (not hard and dry). In fact, I like this fries better compared to the cheese fries. Western BBQ Chicken $8.90The Western BBQ Chicken $8.90 was essentially grilled chicken in barbecue sauce with vegetables and baked potato. Initially, I thought that the portion was very little. But come to think of it, for the ambience and price, I really should not fault it too much as the operating cost of the F&B industry have gone up.The chicken was nicely grilled and the interior was juicy and tender. There was a slight hint of smoky flavour. If the smoky flavour could be intensified, this would have been wonderful. There was a big chunk of butter in the baked potato. Needless to say, I took out most of the butter before they had the opportunity to melt. This main course was not bad and quite value for money. Ice CreamThe vanilla ice cream was well, simple and ordinary. There were hits and misses at Buddy Hoagies. But generally, their main course seemed to fared better. They did quite well in creating a warm cozy ambience with a children friendly environment. continue reading

My very first time trying Buddy Hoagies. The concept is a bit similar to those very popular western stall outside. One main dish with 2 side dishes. I choose the baked potatoes and the vegetables as my sides. Well, I really like the baked potatoes a lot soft and nice with the butter in it. The vegetables was ok, nothing much. The chicken was slightly harder to chew on, but lesser fats as compare to other stall! We spent a total of $30 + for 4 people. continue reading

The FoodI ordered the Rosti with sausage served with garlic bread and cream of mushroom soup. Rosti is actually shredded potato patties and fried with round pan shaped. At first bite of the rosti, can feel is less oily and the potato are fresh too. I also love the dipping sauce that came with it and the sausage was curled up which I find is quite unique compared to other restaurant. The grilled sausage is also juicy and well-marinated and goes very well with the Rosti which make it a complete meal! As for the garlic toast and mushroom soup are also very delicious too !The PriceReasonably priced at $15++ which is value for moneyOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

I went to meet up with my friend and he brought me and boyfriend to this Buddy Hoagies. This place was nice to chill and relax but seats on weekends is quite full and packed. I ordered Fish and Chips, Chicken Baked Rice and Carbonara Pasta. The waiters took quite long before serving, and about 10mins later they served the drinks. Fish and Chips, is nice but the outside is too hard. The carbonara sauce is too much and eat more will get sick of it but overall is nice. We waited very long for the baked rice, about 20 minutes, but the portion is small. They served us the soup when we were almost finished with the main course, the restaurant was so busy! The soup is not really nice, very plain not those thick soup type. The bread that came along was flavoured with garlic and crispy. Overall, for the price here, it is worth it. Hope next time there their service will be better. continue reading
