The store display of shoyu butter rice was a generous display of rice covered in a luscious golden yellow egg mix. that's exactly what I wanted. But I hesitated when I saw the menu. With a small ramekin of shoyu which the waiter happily dumped in the entire contents of. The sizzling sound was comforting but i'm not sure I wanted that much salt.
And a side of cold soup. It was horrible trying to stomach a cold bowl of soup. Not room temperature. It was air conditioned cold temperatures.
And no I did not bother getting my soup changed.
The rice was nicely burnt on some parts giving that charred taste i love. The butter fragrance was strong and inviting. But it was generally too salty. Perhaps that's why they leave a jug of water on every table for self service. I wished there was more meat though. I found myself with too many mouthfuls of salty egg rice.
It'll be awhile before I'm back.
