DessertStory has about 6 outlets in Singapore : Hougang Mall, Tiong Bahru Plaza, Junction 8, NEX, Northpoint and Sun Plaza. It offers traditional chinese style dessert pastes, hot and cold dessert soups, snow ice and savoury snacks. The outlet at Northpoint Shopping Centre was open concept, with a small dine in area.Egg Pudding Ginger (Hot) ($3.30)The eggy pudding was light and smooth, with ginger aftertaste.Water Chestnut (Cold) ($3.30)The hot version was sold out, so no choice ordered the cold one. The water chestnut was chopped into small pieces.Almond Paste ($3.30)It was smooth and was not too sweet. Some believed that having this dessert will cure cough, although I did not know how true is it.Chee Cheong Fun ($2.80/ 2 pieces)It was served with sweet sauce and chilli sauce. I wish there was more chilli sauce which tasted quite good as there was minced dried shrimp in it and it was not too spicy. The plain chee cheong fun was quite smooth and silky.Yam Cake ($2.80)It was also served with sweet and chilli sauce. The yam bites was not distinct in taste and texture. I wish there was minced dried shrimp in it.There was discount for passion card holder, so total bill was $14.70. The place was packed and the only table left was the one nearest to the counter. Quite a bad choice for a table, especially when the staffs kept going in and out to serve food. Food was served quite fast. continue reading

We were looking for something cooling after walking. Spotted Dessert Story, we made our way towards it. Basic and simple layout of the kiosk, the choices provided was considered appropriate. Preparation time was quick, we get our order within 5 minutes. Mouth-watering appearance did surprise me, they were attractive. Mango for me and Chocolate for him, we shared it actually. If you asked me, I prefer putting in the bowl rather than paper cup when having dessert on the spot. Anyway, my Mango was nourish and sweet especially the topping syrup. Chocolate flavour wise, it tasted not so nice. Overall, the appealing thin layer of ice was chilled yet the price was quite high, $4.50 each cup. Sorry to say, we unlikely will go back again. continue reading

Tried this Mango Snow Ice - $4.50 at Dessert Story and there were many other flavours other than the mango flavour. It is suitable to have this dessert in such humid weather in Singapore. The mango flavour ice was soft and it melted immediately after it was put inside my mouth. It was very different from those ice in Ice Kachang which is slightly harder and more crunchy. There were many small cubes of mango on top of the mango snow ice to further enhance the flavour although they were slightly sour. However, the place is quite small and the number of seats are very limited. Hence, it's not suitable for people to stay at that place for long. continue reading

Dont be cheated by the picture of this dessert! It looks absolutely nice in their menu but it's actually not! The syrup is too artificially sweet and the ice shaved is too coarse and the mango is ripen too much which i dont quite like the taste. The main thing is the ice shaved that is so coarse and i need to chew on every single bite before swallowing it. The syrup is another thing, it is so artificial that i prefer sour one that this. continue reading

my girlfriend and I walked passed a dessert story and we decided to grab a bowl of dessert back. I bought their guilin gao also known as herbal jelly. Their herbal jelly was very smooth, it is best eaten after chilled. They packed the honey separately so you can choose to add it or not. In my opinion it is best to add some cos the herbal jelly is slightly on the bitter side and I cannot really take bitter too well so I emptied every drop of the honey. continue reading
