We were around Holland Village area to do some grocery shopping and decided to get some coffee from Da Paolo. Two of us was sharing a cup of coffee- mint mocha. Our mint mocha ($6), with a heart shape latte art.  I am not a coffee fanatic but I usually expect coffee to be piping hot. This coffee was merely luke warm, which was my only complaint. Other than that, it was perfect. The sweetness was just right, and even though I don't usually like minty drink, the minty mocha somehow appeal to me. The lingering mint taste on the tongue give a refreshing after taste. continue reading

The restaurant is at a quiet corner a Holland Village. There is indoor and outdoor alfresco dinning area. As it is a hot afternoon I decided to sit indoor. The service is very upmarket , what I meant its perfect industry standard but I don't feel the human touch and warmth. I decided to order the 3 course set lunch that comes with a coffee. The set lunch cost $48++ starter s pumpkin soup, which is rich and tasty. It is drizzle with truffle oil which add more flavors to the soup. Followed by mushroom risotto, this is the 2nd best risotto I have tasted so far. First is four season. The risotto is simmer with mushroom stock and mushroom bits and the texture is just right. After main course it's dessert time! I had green apple ice cream which is quite unique and refreshing. However, the scoop of ice cream is too small. Thereafter, coffee is served. It is grind coffee hence it is very delicious. It is a good place to pamper yourself for a quiet afternoon lunch. I will come back again to sample other items since it is near my place. continue reading

Read more food reviews at http://thehungrybunnie.blogspot.comDa Paolo does classic Italian cuisine that's fairly authentic and we like it here. The food's generally good, with little to complain about, and it's intimate and elegant. The dimly lit restaurant is completely open-aired, but powerful air-conditioning in the "indoors" area makes it a lot more chilly than you'd expect. I was so missing my shawl when we got a table "indoors". Also, because seating is limited, it's best to make reservations during peak dining periods.Another thing about this famed restaurant is the nightmarish parking issues around Chip Bee Gardens, so I suppose it's a good thing that we dine at really odd hours. Otherwise, we're usually deterred by the lack of available parking lots. We had:1) Carpaccio di Manzo ($24), a thin blanket of chilled beef tenderloin laid upon a bed of bitter rocket and ribbons of salty pungent parmesan cheese was served a tad too cold, like it had just been taken straight out from the freezer and onto our table. It was so cold I couldn't quite make out the flavour of the beef. I would have preferred this tepid instead. Further, a more liberal drizzling of olive oil would have helped this very average appetizer along2) Tagliatelle al Granchio ($28), pasta ribbons laced with sweet crabmeat in a vodka-infused tomato and cream pink sauce was quite delicious. I've noticed that this style of pasta isn't very common on our menus so I always make it a point to order it whenever I spy it on a menu. This didn't disappoint. It was rich, creamy, robust and balanced the sweet and savoury beautifully continue reading
