For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.comWith the summer heat all year round in Singapore, having a bowl of dessert after our meals is usually very common. We chanced upon Hong Hua after our lunch in Old Airport Road Food Centre. Hong Hua Desserts Stall has the classical Singapore Dessert Menu, serving more than 30 kinds of food with interesting food images stated on the facade.Chendol, the South East Asia Cuisine is refreshing and can be commonly found in most Hawker Centre Stall. It is made up of shaved eyes, lavished with coconut milk and palm sugar syrup. Ingredients in the bowl of dessert may varies but not lessing out the red beans and the green starchy jelly noodles (Coconut Jelly).Cheng Tng, can be consumed warm or chilled is another sweet refreshing dessert bowl of soup with longans, barley, agar strips, lotus seeds and sweet syrup. continue reading

Tau Suan is my favourite childhood food. I like it very much. However, I was a bit disappointed when I ate the Tau Suan from this stall. The texture is not thick enough and the you tiao added is a bit soft and soggy. Due to it being my favourite food, my expectation is a bit higher. There are many other food the stall is selling such as ice kachang thus I may come back to try the other food. continue reading

This stall sells a great variety of sweets. But at any one time, most of the stuff will be sold out. So you're left with only 2 or 3 choices to choose from.We had the ice kacang this time. We've tried their other stuff as well, but their ice kacang is the safest bet.Nothing special. Everyday they make it differently. Inconsistent standard. One time we had canned pears at the bottom and it tasted like vomit! The bowl is very small and sometimes they don't put on enough syrup, so it's like eating just ice.Service is gruff and you almost have to be gruff in return or they have a nazi attitude towards you. Really weird service. Not really recommended. But it is cheap and there are only 2 ice kacang stalls in this food centre, bother with super long queues. Even though this stall is not very good, they still have long queues as the other stall always gets sold out first! They have normal ice kacang for $1.50, and kiwi ice kacang for $2.50 and cranberry ice kacang for $2.50. Take away is extra. continue reading
