Siew Mai: Val and I liked this a lot. It is good! It does not have the unpleasant "pork" taste la... recommended!..but not as good as the one at Crystal Jade Palace. The egg tart is very fresh and warm; however, I think the egg itself is not juicy enough.. still quite good! The congee is quite good... century egg, and pork... not bad....not as good as the one at imperial treasure (Cantonese Cuisine). Prawn is very fresh excellent! It has translucent skin - a must order! Love this so much! The chrysanthemum tea is quite bland in my opinion. This is quite nice... fresh and hot.. Crispy on the outside.. the chive inside is nice! A bit oily! But I like it! continue reading

We were at the Openrice office again to collect our prizes for participating in the Hungry Games contest. After we're done with the short visit, we headed over to ION Orchard to have dinner at the Imperial Treasure restaurant.Imperial Treasure Noodle & Congee House, located at #B3 of ION, is a typical cantonese dining house serving up dim sum (lunch hours), HK roast meat and cantonese style stir fry dishes, rice, noodles and congee. We ordered several dishes and shared them with white rice.Crispy large intestines $8.50++, the skin was delightfully crispy and the center is tender and well marinated. A perfect dish to kick start our meal.Roasted combination platter $22++ for 3 items of your choice. We had pork belly, roast duck and char siew. These were good, we especially loved the crackling roast pork belly!Crispy squid with salted egg yolk $16++, ooooh we adored the thick creamy salted egg yolk paste coated around the crispy battered squid. The squid was fresh and springy, thumbs up.Claypot tofu w/ seafood $20++, a nice healthy dish to balance off the greasy fried/grilled dishes we're having. The generous portion of seafood was fresh...the prawns were really huge! Tofu was soft and soft smooth as well...delish.Some greens to go with the meat dishes, Spinach w/ 3 color egg $14++. Nice and lightly flavored dish with lotsa broth...refreshing!Claypot chicken w/ taro in coconut sauce $16++. We made a mistake with this one, the creamy coconut sauce was too jerlat...we didn't managed to finish this dish.We wiped out everything accept the last dish. Food quality here is really good and the HK roast meats are rather authentic. Prices are on the steep side though. I would recommend this place for family gatherings with older folks who are fussy about food quality. For full review - http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2013/11/dinner-at-imperial-treasure-ion.html continue reading

Once again, I met up with OpenRicers midas400 & happybaby03 to collect our contest prize from OpenRice. After collecting our prizes, we went dinner at Imperial Treasure Noodle & Congee House, ION. We were lucky to secure a table within 5 mins even though there a queue.midas400 & myself saw this Crispy Pig Intestines on the menu we decided o order it even when we have already ordered 5 dishes. It is soft yet crispy, so no regrets lah! Spinach with 3 types of egg (Egg, Salted Egg & Century Egg)3 BBQ Combinations - Roast Pork, Roast Duck & Char Siew. All's good but I reckon next time I will just order the Roast Pork cos I didn't have enough & can't get enough of it. Even the little girl who is with us can't get enough of the roast pork!Chicken with Yam in Claypot. It was simmered with coconut milk & it taste kinda wired. It tastes like bur-bur-cha-cha! By the way, the lady taking our orders had already pre-warned us that it tasted like bur-bur-cha-cha, haha! continue reading

When I was shopping at ION, I saw a similar to Crystal Jade Kitchen food establishment called Imperial Treasure Noodle & Congee House. I went in to have a try of their Cantonese type of cafe's menu. There were a hundred plus of items on the menu and I was spoilt for choice.I had ordered their Rice noodle roll (Zhu Chang Fen). Their Zhu Chang Fen came with their special sauce. The red colour tasted like our local sweet sauce and other brown colour like peanut sauce. The Zhu Chang Fen was steaming hot. It tasted very smooth and slippery in mouth with oil coating in between every layer of Zhu Chang Fen.Overall, the prices of their dishes were affordable and their offerings tasted as good as Crystal Jade Kitchen. continue reading

This Chinese restaurant not only served my favourite congee and noodle dishes, this is my first time trying their different types of dim sum food here. Restaurant's environment is quite comfortable and cooling. The service here was really fast and friendly too. I have ordered their salted egg yolk custard bun which the white bun is really chewy and soft. Love those flow out salted egg yolk custard, which is tasty and not too sweet. The egg custard tart is delicious too, which the pastry is really crunchy and fluffy with lots of smooth egg custard toppedi in it. The carrot cakes are chewy and quite big in portion, with lots of shredded carrot pieces found in it. continue reading
