http://www.umakemehungry.com/2018/01/nonya-delicatessen.htmlNonya Delicatessen has been serving Peranakan Dishes since 1980. Although I have noticed this stall for years, I only get to try out their dishes recently as many of the times they were either closed or sold out. They are opened daily till food last, also they also provide takeaways for all occasions. We visited on a Sunday where many of the patrons came to fix their stomach after their usual groceries shopping at the supermarket. There are 2 sizes available for Rojak and we ordered the smaller portion. Peanuts were generously sprinkled on top of the Rojak. Taste wise, rojak is pretty ordinary with the usual ingredients, You Tiao, Cucumber, Tau Pok, Pineapple, Ginger Flower Bud etc. One of the main dishes that you might want to try. Gravy of Mee Siam is light and refreshing without being too spicy. Ingredients include fishcake, beansprouts, Tau Pok, hard boil egg and spring onions. Nasi Kunyit is one of the staples served by Nonya Delicatessen and if you observed, majority of the customers have one of such on their table. The portion of yellow ginger rice served was little but fragrant and packed of aroma. You can upsize the dishes at additional dollar for bigger serving. The serving includes a rich and succulent big piece of curry chicken whereby the meat easy fell off from its bone and sides like AChar and hard boiled egg were included too. On top of that, the chilli was commendable. It was sweet spicy, unique on its own. Simply, a satisfying meal! Fragrant and not mentioning the good portion of yam, sweet potato and red ruby it contains. Bo bo Cha Cha may be something you might want to order after your meal. Refreshing and light with red beans and coconut jelly. Ice cubes were added to make it cold. However, with us just returning from Malacca weeks back, this Cendol is not comparable and taste is still far from expectation. Overall, I like their service as they make us feel very at home. On a down side, one may need to queue for sometime and price maybe on a higher range. Nevertheless, looking at the queue and regular patrons, you will know that such delicacies are simply worth it. continue reading

We happen to pass by this stall and saw a long queue, their food looks interesting , with so much choices of dessert too, we decide to try their yam paste, wow, it tastes so rich and fragrant, very well made, all genuinely yam, in fact not easy to made, we enjoy it very much,it is cheap in fact as it is very tasty. i believe this stall other food just as good, it is a small stall but always crowded, food may be a bit expensive, but people still queue and buy. We would like to try their other food as well. continue reading

I ordered Mee Rebus to dine in and ondeh Ondeh and Sago Kueh to takeaway home. Mee Rebus gravy sauce was really thick and flavourful. Noodles was well cooked and not soggy. but too bad i'm not a fan of the bean sprouts cos it was a little bit more on the raw end. I would have to have it soaked a while more before it's cooked. So when I wanted to buy the take out, the uncle was very chatty and friendly, almost cheeky. I would ask him what's in this and that and he would joke say "don't tell you!" and started cutting open everything for me to sample! how nice.Ondeh Ondeh usually inside have liquid gula melaka , but instead i found shredding coconuts which didn't work out to my preference.Sago kueh was soft and chewy but the egg taste was abit too overpowering which was confusing because I think it shouldn't have egg taste. continue reading

I used to visit this store quite often when i worked around turf city They only serve a few dishes likemee siam, prawn noodles, mee rebus, laksa, nasi lemak ...They usually sell out by late afternoon, so whenever we’re here after work we never get a chance to eat here & also the place has limited seats & is self servicemee siam-broth was thin but quite tasty. They’re pretty generous with the ingredients at least 3 decent-sized prawns inside.Overall i rate 8/10 continue reading
