Signature Dishes
We visited Orchid Café for Teochew porridge buffet on Thursday night for group gathering. This is recommended by one of my friend. She is NTUC Plus Card holder which allows us to enjoy the discount to S$15.00 per pax for the buffet. The usual price is S$16.80++.The café is located at level 3 of Orchid Hotel. The hotel is a walking distance from Tanjong Pagor MRT station. It is easily accessible for us as we are staying at different area. This is an ideal location for us to meet up.The café was spacious and there are plenty of empty seats available upon arrival. We actually made reservation for the buffet. The whole night was only occupied not more than 5 tables. It was a good place for us to have bonding sessions today.As for the design of the café, it is slight old but well-maintained café. The tables and chairs are the old style wooden furniture. The place is relatively quiet and the atmosphere was comfortable. The staffs are attentive too. They will clear the plates immediately after we cleared the foods. Since, it’s a porridge buffet, the essential porridge stuffs are served. They have the mixture of western salad in. There are egg mayo salad, pasta salad, lettuces and ingredients of western salads displayed in the counter. There are also condiment ingredients displays for us to have it with the plain porridge.There are more than 20 different dishes on spread and it is quite reasonable for the buffet price.You can find from stir fried dishes,vinegar pig’s trotters, dumplings, buns and many more. There are even ice-creams, cakes and fruits served as well. Buffet was good as we can try all different types of dishes and the dishes are still in hot condition. The taste of the foods are fine. Love the varieties of the condiment ingredients to go with the plain porridge. It gives us the choice to try different kinds of condiments and made our own porridge.Overall it is quite a filling dinner buffet with the choices available and the price paid.
