Kokomama Marketplace has taken over Three Petite Croissant at the School of The Arts (SOTA). The design of the cafe hasn’t changed much but the menu is much more than bakes alone. I have been wanting to visit Kokomama to try out some of their Mains but keep couldn’t find time for it. Finally, thanks to the invite.

At a glance of Kokomama menu, I wasn’t quite sure of what the focus might be. As the name of the cafe suggested, “Marketplace” and indeed it was. As you find French, Korean and Japanese dishes whipped by Kokomama kitchen. I like varieties. And with the salted egg craze happening in Singapore, Kokomama has also jumped in to introduce this trend food together with other flavours and 3 new pizza.Beside the Kokolava Salted Egg Croissant ($6.50), Kokokmama has also introduced 2 other flavours; Kokolava Peanut Croissant ($6.50) and Kokolava Custard Croissant ($6.50).Custard being the lightest was the first to be consumed. The custard was lightly sweet and flowed like lava, true to its name Kokolava Custard Croissant ($6.50). But personally, I prefer the custard to be stronger in flavour and thicker in consistency.Next on the list was the Kokolava Peanut Croissant ($6.50). It uses Kokomama secret peanut butter recipe. A pity, it didn’t flow like the Custard one. It has the typical peanut butter aroma. This is a hit among peanut butter fan.Lastly the Kokolava Salted Egg Croissant ($6.50). I tried the Salted Egg Croissant about 2 weeks ago and was disappointed. But the improved recipe version, I was impressed. It could easily be on par with the current best. The salted egg cream flows, was creamy and smooth and we could savour the salted egg fragrance. The cream has a slight sweet tint which I suspect some may not favour over it. But I do. In fact, I thought the sweet tint was the key to make the totality taste better. Anyway, that’s my personal preference, I suppose.Over to the pizza, 3 new flavours; Chilli Crab Pizza, Salted Egg Seafood Pizza and Smoked Duck Pizza. We enjoyed the Smoked Duck Pizza most. The pizza offered at Kokokmama does not consist of the usual tomato sauce and it is topped with the various ingredients on a freshly baked baguette. As such, the pizza flavour is light.The Salted Egg Prawn Pasta ($14.90) has prawns, a small cup of mushroom soup and a garlic bread. I thought this was value for money. We enjoyed the pairing but personally, I would prefer a more al dente pasta.

The popular Korean dessert, Bingsu was also offered. The Matcha Craze ($12.90) is the top seller at Kokomama. Shaved Ice quality was fine and lightly milky and sweet. In it was Yuzu mochi, green tea powder dusting, with a ring of red bean around the scoop of green tea ice cream.Mango Madness is the other hot favourite; available in either Baby ($8.90) or Giant ($12.90). We were mesmerized by this bowl of bingsu. All 6 at the table voted this to be their fave, including myself. The mango ice cream was strong in Mango flavour, topped with fresh mango, it was simply heavenly.Lastly the Yogurt Fruity Flair ($14.90). This is also a lightly flavoured, refreshing and certainly fruity as it is topped with many different fruits.Kokomama Marketplace whipped an array of food and freshly baked bread and pastries in-house each day. I felt the menu was designed with the students in the area in mind and at a wallet friendly prices for the students to enjoy.

Amazonia Bistro is nothing short of amazing— its a different kind of Disneyland that attracts the hearts of both the young and old, male or female. I joined other OpenRicers for a tasting session after a long, tiring day at the zoo and River Safari. How I wish I spent my entire day here! Oh yes, please make sure you wear a pair of socks as you have to take off your shoes (even at the dining area).

This indoor attraction is indeed a treasure within Great World City, and I'd have never known that if not for the OpenRice tasting session.

Here's what we tried that day:
Ceasar Salad with Avocado - $13.80The plating was really adorable, with the eggs and tomatoes separated from the rest. This makes the yolk stay really fresh (usually, the yolk is blackened at its radius). The lettuce remained crisp and the dressing was perfectly well balanced. Sometimes, there is a lot of residual liquid / dressing left behind but this dish doesn't! 

Chocolate Fondant with Ice Cream - $7.50This organized mess is an enjoyable delight for me — and I think it's quite worth it for its price! It's quite difficult to go wrong with chocolate and vanilla.

Other items which we've tried are:
Chef Nasi Gorengs - $12.70
Love it, love it, love it! The yolk remained runny while the satay had the smoky grilled flavour... its quite comparable to Lau Pat Sat satay eh.

Spicy Garlic Tiger Prawn - $15.20
Unfortunately, the tiger prawns were gone as I arrived an hour late— hence, my review will not be accurate for this dish.

Apple Juice - $5
Skip this drink unless you're really thirsty and have no other choice. It doesn't taste like freshly squeezed apple juice as there wasn't any pulp... quite exorbitantly priced for a glass of apple juice *gasps*.

Party RoomsHow I wish I could turn back time and hold my birthday parties here! It's a wonderful place for a child's imagination— so much magic can happen at the various themed party rooms. 

3D GLOW MINI GOLFInitially, I thought this was a haunted house because the decorations look quite creepy in the dark. Complete with 3D Glow in the dark artwork and motion props, this section features various themes such as Under the Sea, Pirates and Dinosau. I never thought that I could have so much fun trying to put golf balls into holes!JUNGLE PLAY GYMMy greatest regret? Not sliding down this *cries*

After knowing about Humpback Sunday Brunch, I decided to pop by with my Mom to check them out at Bukit Pasoh. The unit where Humpback is located was previously occupied by The Clan. Now that The Clan has shifted, the design of the ground floor was revamped into a more casual dinning spot with only bar tables which I never preferred.On Humpback Sunday Brunch menu, 7 categories were offered; namely Oysters, Snacks, Garden, Egg, Seafood, Meat and Dessert.I was glad to catch sight of oysters on its menu. 4 types of oysters offered. All were from Washington, USA, priced at $3 each. I tried the Eld Inlet and Kumamoto. Lemon, specially concocted vinegar and freshly grated horse radish were served with the oysters. Kumamoto was lighter in oyster pungent as compared Eld Inlet. As such Kumamoto was smoother on the palate. But personally I prefer the Eld Inlet as I like that pungent.Kale Salad ($14) was our picked. Besides kale, the main greens, pear, pecan nuts, buttermilk, topped with kale chips and dusted with a good amount of grated parmesan cheese was in this salad. My mom didn’t appreciate it initially but felt it tasted fabulous after ingesting more of them. Personally, I felt it was like having Cesar Salad, instead of Romaine Lettuce, Kale was replaced.Out of the 4 eggs, we chose the most boring one, Scrambled Egg ($10/18) with Prosciutto, asparagus on sourdough. All except the Omelette has it in either small or big plate. Personally, I would go for either the fried egg ($14/24)with octopus or omelette ($18) with oysters.The scrambled egg has a soft a soft curd texture and was creamy. As lots of chopped parsley (I think they were), resulted in more aroma in the dish.
It was their Lobster Roll ($39) that prompted me the visit to Humpback. Chunky lobster with cream, tobiko in the roll and frisee and fries by the side. We enjoyed Humpback Lobster Roll.At the meat section, either Buttermilk Fried Chicken or Pork Rib ($14) was available. We ordered the latter. The pork rib was extremely tender. With only the fork, the meat was detached from the bone. Again, a pity, the marinate did not get meat-deep.Since Humpback is part of Jigger and Pony establishment, expect a good range of cocktails and wine. Alternatively, one could customize their very own Bloody Mary.
It has limited non-alcoholic drinks though. One of them is the Iced Tea Soda ($6) which we opted to try. Practically, almost like soda.We enjoyed the food offerred at Humpback Sunday Brunch. Though the food weren’t any special but it was well executed. At least the food we ordered were delish.

Amazonia brands themselves as an "integrated Family Entertainment Centre", with enthralling amusement facilities going hand-in-hand with a comprehensive menu selection at their bistro. I recently had the pleasure of attending a tasting session with OpenRice at this one-of-a-kind recreation centre, so this post will inevitably focus on the highlights of the bistro!

Amazonia had picked out some of their star dishes for this session, and while there were some hits and misses for me, the sheer variety on offer ensures everyone is bound to find something on the menu that hits the spot.

Our four-course tasting menu consisted of:
- Caesar Avocado Salad
- Chef Nasi Goreng
- Sweet & Spicy Garlic Tiger Prawn
- Chocolate Fondant with Ice Cream

The salad certainly stood out in its use of creamy avocado chunks, which are not usually found in Caesar salads. It definitely was a welcome addition for me! Besides this, you get all you would expect in a Caesar salad, such as croutons, eggs, olives and tomatoes. In particular, the croutons remained crisp instead of turning soggy, and so did the lettuce leaves.No surprises in the nasi goreng, which came with all the usual accoutrements such as prawn crackers, chicken drumsticks, satay and an over-medium egg. The rice was thoroughly aromatic and flavourful, providing a beautiful base for the various accompaniments. While the satay was fragrant and tender, the drumsticks paled in comparison, being rather hard and dry.The tiger prawns arrived on a bed of fragrant fluffy white rice, with an assortment of greens on the side. While there wasn't anything particularly wrong with this dish, I felt it could be made more complete with some garnishes and spices in the rice. That would also go some way in justifying the rather high price of this dish.Rounding off the session was the Chocolant Fondant, which came topped with a generous dollop of ice cream. It was wonderfully rich and creamy, as might be expected with a dessert like that. The fondant was also studded with crunchy chocolate buttons that tasted of surprisingly high quality.As part of the event, we were also shown around the various play areas within the maze-like entertainment complex. The inner-child in me was indeed coaxed out, as I marvelled at the various games rooms, ball pits, slides, trampolines, bridges and tunnels that transported me into a whole universe of fantasy. Amazonia even has a surreal glow-in-the-dark themed recreational golf course in which I spent more time admiring the creative setup than doing any real putting!

I would say Amazonia has indeed succeeded in bringing us a unique brand of family fun and dining, with an entertainment setup that is sure to charm any youngster's heart. It certainly offers a safe and wholesome enthralling escape from the daily rigours of your little ones' lives, whatever they may be! Some of the bistro's offerings, however, may need to be reviewed to see how they can provide more value for the prices charged. 
 

Aura occupied a unit on the fifth as the restaurant while directly above is the sky lounge. I thought it could be a great place for brunch with my mom on a Sunday. I tried making a reservation via the website twice but failed as it requires 24 hours lead time to reply. As such, on my second failed attempt, I decided to take the risk and walk-in early. Indeed, either go early, as early as 12 pm when it opens or make sure a reservation is made if after 1 pm.Both the restaurant and the sky lounge offer different dinning experience with unsimilar ambience. The feel of the restaurant is more slanted to the fine dinning arena while the sky lounge offer an elegant, relaxed and casual dinning atmosphere. A reservation with tables next to the glass at the sky lounge would be a perfect dinning experience.

Sky Lounge

On weekdays, at the sky lounge, it offers Salad Buffet of roasted vegetables, salads and homemade breads.When weekends arrived, an Ala Carte Menu is offered instead with as much as 12 selection, ranging from eggs, salad, sandwiches to pasta and sweets.


Restaurant

Over at the Aura Restaurant, the weekends Brunch Menu is available. I thought the Brunch Menu was a good way to try as many food as possible. It is priced at $48 per person for food only. If diners prefer to have free flow of Prosecco and Bellini, it is priced at $98 per person.Swiftly the complimentary Focaccia bread was served once order was completed.We were served with the pastas before the remaining apperitzer, I decided to start with Stracci with Duck Ragu. We were mesmerized by its taste immediately.Next, was the Trofie with Truffle Pesto and Prawns. This isn’t for my mom at all. She tried and never turned to it for more. I was neutral though not exactly enjoying it. This surely isn’t for everyone due to the strong aroma from both the truffle and pesto resulting in some kind of acquired pungent flavour. Both the Stracci and Troffie were well made; smooth and soft to the chew.Next, the Parma Ham with Musk Melon and Stracciatella & Tomato Bruschetta, Calarmari and Crab Crostini were served. Nothing outstanding about these. But the soft to the chew calamari is still worth highlighting.3 choices for Mains with Sirloin with Asparagus and Red Wine Sauce and Hokkaido Scallops with Porcini and Beetroot as our order. The third was Black Cod with Tomato and Herb Crust.Luckily, I agreed to Medium Rare for the Sirloin with Asparagus and Red Wine Sauce, otherwise, it would prove a challenge for my jaw. My mom doesn’t usually prefer beef actually wanted more after her first small piece.Hokkaido Scallops with Porcini and Beetroot has good pairing of ingredients. As long as seafood is fresh, it can’t go too wrong.We have both the Bailey’s & Hazelnut Feuillantine and Chestnut Pannacotta with Mandarin Coulis. I started with the former. Hazelnut flavour was strong while bailey was weak to savour. Moving to the latter, we were surprised by how the citrusy zest of orange could be in perfect harmony with the nuttiness chestnut. I was blown away by this dessert. As I have no expectation for it since I don't have good prior experience on anything chestnut.Coffee and Tea were part of the Brunch. I have my usual Cappucino. I like the low acidity, full body and nutty cuppa.Aura Restaurant has a classy dinning environment though it gets noisy when the restaurant was at 80% capacity. The service staff that attended our table was warm, chatty and certainly professional; introducing us the menu and making recommendation to us to help the decision process. Coming to food, we felt they were fresh. Most of which leaned towards our preference except for the more adventurous Triofe with Truffle Pesto and Prawns.

Within a stone throw from the serene lushy Bedok Reservoir is home to a modest cafe, the Burp Kitchen And Bar. It isn't close to any MRT station (as in within walking distance) though several bus routes serve the area. Fortunately, the area is surrounded with residential in Bedok and the close by Tampines. And perhaps after an evening walk around the reservoir, one could pop by to chillout at Burp Kitchen And Bar.The cafe is basically dressed in brown shade and warm lighting with a L-shaped area housing the dining area and bar. Both bar tables and normal dinning tables are available for diners to choose from. Nothing fanciful in the cafe with minimalist.At Burp Kitchen And Bar since alcohol is served, Bar Grub is certainly essential. To complement the Bar Grub selection, burgers and Tacos were added to the menu. As all cafe, Brunch selection is not be to missing from the menu too. As such, it is offered. The food served are mainly Mexican with some touch of American and Filipino.

Bar Grub
First, we started with 4 Bar Grubs. There are 6 other Bar Grub as selection. We kick-off the dinner with Salted Egg Tofu Fries ($8). Generous amount of salted egg sauce was layered over the made in-house Tofu Fries. Personally, I didn't enjoy the dish as I didn't find Tofu and salted egg complemented well. In addition, it is quite salty. And moreover, Tofu isn't quite my kind of food.As an alternative, diner could opt for Wasabi sauce instead. This is one of the 3 vegetarian Bar Grub. The other 2 being Flavoured Popcorn ($6) and Tortilla Corn Chips ($7).One of the common Bar Grub, is the chicken Wings. At Burp Kitchen And Bar, 3 options were provided; Burp Kitchen Wings ($10), Salted Egg Wings ($14) and Spicy Buffalo Wings ($14). We tried 2 out of the 3. Good good news to less once guilt while indulging; the Chicken Wings are Air Fry.Burp Chicken Wings ($10) uses the special Philippines Adobo sauce giving it a tangy and sweet flavour. It is certainly great to wash it down with some beer. A pity the flavouring did not get beyond the skin, hence the chicken flesh was rather bland.With the salted egg craze hitting our shore, salted egg sauce on wings are also available at Burp Kitchen And Bar. Using the same salted egg sauces that was used for the Tofu Fries, the Salted Egg Wings ($14) was born.The last Bar Grub of the night was the Chicken Quesadilla ($9). A tortilla warp filled with Mozzarella and Cheddar cheese and slowed cooked shredded chicken making it a rich cheesy dish. It will be a hit among cheese lovers. Most of felt savoured mainly the cheese and didn't even realise the chicken was in it.
Other selections of Bar Grub include the Nachos ($11) in either BBQ Pulled Pork or Beef Chilli and Sasage Fest ($14).

Burgers
Burgers easily find favour with most. I am one who likes my burgers. 6 creations of burgers are offered at Burp Kitchen And Bar. We tried 2 out of 6.First and foremost, the Burp's Beef Burger ($16). When the burger was served to the table, immediately, I could smell the dou miao (a vegetable that I like a lot). I thought this was a creative great idea. The beef patty was well marinated and fresh. Brioche bun was as fluffy as it should be. I enjoyed the totality of the taste profile. But I suspect some may not quite enjoy it with the pea sprout as it gives off a raw green taste, though, this is what I enjoy. Acquired taste, I suppose.The Crabby Patty Burger ($18) was with an entire fried soft shell crab. You could figure it out from the obvious shape. It is sandwiched with again the salted egg, lettuce in between a squid ink bun which I mistaken it as a charcoal bun. I was glad the bun didn't result in any strong seafood flavour and it is fluffy.
Burp is also very considerate towards vegetarian, you will find The Vegetarian Burger ($10) on its menu too. The remaining 3 non-vegetarian options are Chicken Rendang Burger ($12), Curried Pork Burger ($14) and Ultimate Burp Burger ($20).

Tacos
Finally, the last (but not least) dish of the night, presenting the Tacos. 6 dishes to choose from, namely, Citrus & Miso Tofu ($10) a vegetarian dish, Baja Fish, All Taco dishes come in 2 servings of 6" tacos and corn chips.Baja Fish Tacos ($12) has battered fish, coleslaw, salsa fresca with spicy mayo on the 6" wrap. Most of us like the fish as it was lightly battered and not overly flavoured.Pork Carnitas Tacos ($12) is with the slow cooked BBQ pulled pork. The rest of the ingredients are the same as the Baja Fish Tacos. The distinct taste of this dish is sweet. The flavour reminded me of the narcissus brand canned food, Spiced Pork Cubes.
At this tasting, we tried none of the 11 dishes under the Brunch selection.
Generally, the food served at Burp Kitchen are all right but it is certainly too salty. What I truly appreciate about Burp Kitchen And Bar is the thoughtfulness by providing Vegetarian options at all categories of their menu.
 

[Portico Prime]Portico Prime, sister arm of Portico, took over the space at Dempsey hill which used to be The Prime Society, serving modern european cuisines.
My man and I had their 3-course Festive set lunch priced at $48++ per pax and we enjoyed it.
Starters:
(1) Bread and butter- The highlight here was the seaweed butter. Consume together with the sundried tomato bread, it's was yum! A great start to my festive lunch. Rating 4/5.
(2) Jerusalem Artichoke Soup- Parmesan and sesame tuile; crispy, savoury with fragrance from the roasted sesame. Blue swimmer crab croquette was packed with firm crabmeat, deep fried till crispy. Seafood freshness was clearly presently in every bite into the crabmeat. My only complain? Too small piece! A bite of croquette with a mouthful of artichoke soup, it was so rich, sinful and delicious. Rating 4/5.
(3) Smoked Salmon Mousseline- The most pretty dish of all courses. Salmon mousse was creamy and texture real smooth. Served chilled and it's like eating salmon gelato. Before I forked it, I was quite worried that there might be overwhelming "fishy" taste which I'm afraid of but the pickled radish and shallots helped in reducing it. The crispy pumpernickel crumbs and salmon roe also helps in bringing up some crunchiness and lesser the mushy. The most love part were the thin salmon skin crisps! Rating 3.5/5.
Mains:
(4) Roasted Pork Belly with Crackling- Meat was marinated till flavourful, taste of chinese spices was pretty strong but was slight salty for me, still it was delicious. Pork was paired with sherry pork sauce, with hints of sweetness and light alcohol aftertaste. Unfortunately the pork belly skin wasn't crackling otherwise it would have scored higher with my tastebuds. Pumpkin purée that was supposed to carry ginger scent wasn't distinctive at all. Rating 4/5.
(5) Roulade of Turkey with wild mushrooms- This turkey dish surprised me with wild mushroom hidden inside the meat roulade. Mushroom taste was rather strong, It actually helped to reduce the overpowering thyme marinates found on the meat. Together with the poultry jus and brandy cranberries, the overall taste was more well-balanced. Roasted seasoned potatoes with herbs tasted great too and I don't mind having them alone as a starter or snack. Rating 3/5.
Desserts:
(6) Max Felchlin 64% Chocolate and hazelnut mousse- Dessert!!! A girl's best friend Marron ice cream was bery sweet with strong nutty aftertaste. What won me over was the homemade prune and armagnac jam, it worked so well with the chocolate hazelnut mousse! Weird marriage but tasted good! Rating 4/5.

*** A classy restaurant with nice ambience and attentive servers. No complains at all for their good service. Food and plating were definitely of high standards. When you're there, you might want to take their alfresco seatings overseeing Portico's own herbs garden, very relaxing and great if drinking a glass or two. Suitable for dating, friends gathering or after-work get together ***

Heya People! I'm back with this review on a humble cafe situated along Bedok Reservoir Road, named Burp's Kitchen and Bar! Cozy place, with a mini bar to chillax after a long day of work! What's more? With friendly bosses and delicious food... My only complain is the squeezy seats! Otherwise I'm definitely gonna go there every other day. Oh ya. Free Wi-Fis for kids, I mean students to study!

Okok. Without further ado, let me introduce the first dish of the night - Salted Egg Tofu Fries! Salted Egg Tofu Fries - 3.0/5.0 Stars. The idea of replacing normal shoestring or curly fries with tofu fries is kinda cool, especially when salted egg is being accompanied. According to the friendly boss, the tofu is made from scratch, where they get those tofu, and they cut them into slices. Then, it is being coated with batter and deep fried. Lastly, they drizzle the salted egg yolk sauce onto it. Would say that the tofu batter is very normal, and just like what my fellow food reviewer mentioned - it tasted more like tau kwa than tofu. But, the salted egg sauce salvaged the dish! The boss was kind enough to bring out the Wasabi Mayo sauce, which is another alternative to Salted Egg Sauce for us to try. Its Wasabi Mayo sauce tasted pretty good as well! *According to the boss, the restaurant provides additional sauces, or a mixture (you can get both sauce), at the usual price as long as you ASK for it! Good eh?* 

Next up - Burp Kitchen Wings Burp Kitchen Wings - 4.2/5.0 Stars. Wings are usually deep fried eh? But Burp chooses to air-fry their wings, which is definitely a plus point! Accompanied the wings is its special sauce - Adobo Sauce! Sweet yet tangy refreshing sauce, which is simply indescribable! You would have to try it yourself! (I don't give 4.2/5 Stars for no reason, trust me its good!) 

Next up - Salted Egg Wings Salted Egg Wings - 3.4/5.0 Stars. Just in case I did not mention it earlier - all the marination of the wings are being done by the chef, and all the kind of sauces - be it salted egg, adobo or any sauces that I mention within this post is being made from scratch by the chef. Burp believes in making their own sauces and marinations! Ok by now, you would be asking me if the Salted Egg that appeared in the wings is the same as the one that appeared in the tofu fries. And my answer is YES! Nothing much special about the sauce to mention - everything was mentioned above in the salted egg tofu fries. Wings as per usual, GOOD! 

Next up - Chicken QuesadillaChicken Quesadilla - 4.5/5.0 Stars. This is something to die for. Cheddar Cheese, Mozzarella cheese, slow cooked pull chicken accompanied by the totrilla wrap. Its just simply amazing and I would say that this is one of the best quesadilla I've ever tried on earth! For $9, its definitely worth the price. Oh yeah, and it comes with freshly made Salsa sauce, which is made from tomato puree and tomato sauce! Definitely gonna order this again on my next visit! 

Next up - Burp's Beef Burp's Beef - 4.3/5.0 Stars. Brioche Bun, beef patty, american cheese, caramellized onions, dou miao and spicy mayo. Great combination, and of course instead of using the 'boring' lettuce, cabbage etc, Burp decided to replace it with pea sprouts, or better known as dou miao. Surprisingly, the dou miao indeed brought the whole burger to the next level.. of tastiness! Beef patty was fresh and generous as well! Oh ya. every burger comes with a side of Potato Salad, which I personally find it kinda normal. *The boss says that you can switch your potato salad to either coleslaw or corn chips for free. You can even change it to salted egg tofu fries - at a minimal charge!* 

Next up - Crabby Patty Crabby Patty - 2.6/5.0 Stars. Squid Ink Bun, lettuce, battered soft shell crab, salted egg sauce, curry leaves and chilli padi. Squid Ink Bun has no squid ink taste or any distinctive taste of squid ink. Battered Soft Shell Crab is served luke warm (ok not even luke warm, more of cold), and it seems not to have been battered. Salted egg sauce and curry leaves - ok as per normal. Not much of chilli padi either. Would not recommend this burger, especially with the price, which is on the high side - $18.00. Burp's Beef, priced at $16.00 is definitely much more price and taste-worthy as compared to this.

Next up - Pork Carnitas Tacos Pork Carnitas Taco - 4.1/5.0 Stars. Slow cooked BBQ pulled pork, apple-slaw and salsa fresca, being wrapped by tortilla tacos and served with corn chips. BBQ pull pork was addictive, especially with the distinctive taste of the BBQ sauce, and the apple-slaw made the dish less oily and gives its customer an 'healthier' opinion of the dish. 

Last but not least - Baja Fish Tacos Baja Fish Tacos - 3.7/5.0 Stars. By now, everyone of us are kind of full, and if we were to say that this dish is good, it has to really be good. Everyone on the table thought that the fish was good. Thus, it is really GOOD. Everything else was the same - apple-slaw and salsa fresca, but it comes with spicy mayo and battered fish. The fish was well battered, and it stands out amongst the dishes that I've tried today. 

The average score for the 8 dishes we tried at Burp Kitchen and Bar was 3.725 Stars/5.0 Stars, which is decent. For a cafe situated along a reservoir, I thought that the food served was really good, and it is really price-worthy. The staff and bosses were very friendly and they would try their best to accomdate to our requests - nothing is impossible! Just ASK! 

Overall a good food tasting, and definitely will be back for more at Burp's Kitchen and Bar - hopefully to try out some of their mocktails and cocktails!

Chot Nun has a very interesting tag line. ❄ Soft as first snow. Remember our first time ❄ OMG! So romantic. Like calling out all the couples on their first date to have a cup of Chot Nun Bingsu.Bingsu is very common in Singapore. One after another keep introducing it. It seems to no longer a trend food but a Korean dessert here to stay. Chot Nun introduces the Bingsu as takeaway cups. It operates out of a kiosk at the basement of Far East Plaza, the favourite hang out of youth. This could be a draw for the shoppers at Far East Plaza. One could grab a Bingsu on hand as one continues to shop.

Chot Nun offers a total of 12 Bingsu flavours. There are the classic flavours such as Pat Cup, red bean bingsu ($6.50) and the Injeolmi Cup ($7.50). Some usual flavours such as Cookies & Cream Cup ($7.50) and Chocolate Cup ($9.50). If you prefer the fruity version, there are Strawberry Cup ($9.50), Mango Cup ($9.50), Durian Cup ($9.50) and Melon Cup ($9.50). Some usual flavours such as BB Cup ($7.50) comprises of Bacon and Bread while Breakfast Cup ($7.50) consisting of cornflakes and marshmallow, Honey Comb cup ($9.50) and lastly Peanut Butter Cup ($7.50)The kiosk is divided into 2; the kitchen and the order cum collection counter. When the kitchen is done with the cup of bingsu, they will hand it over to the counter through the small window. The front crew will get a larger cup add both water and dry ice into it, then place the bingsu cup over into the bigger cup containing the dry ice.We were so fascinated over the dry ice effect as it was extremely worthy for the squre. And we have completely overlooked the practical purpose of it. That is to keep the bingsu cold; prevent it from melting fast. So even though it is instagram worthy, don’t focus on the it and missed out the important factor.We tried 4 flavours. 3 fruity and the chocolate cup. The 3 fruity flavours were Mango, Strawberry and Durian. The fruit used were fresh and the shaved ice was fine and soft, indeed resembling first snow. The entire cup was lightly sweetened. Each bingsu cup has layers of biscuit crumbs or red bean laced in between to enhance the savouring experience. The chocolate has the oreo crumbs, strawberry has the red bean while both mango and durian has it with biscuit crumbs.Most of the flavours has a soft serve on top of the bingsu cup. Personally I like it with the soft serve. Out of the 3 fruit flavours, Durian overwhelm the lightly milky bingsu flavour while Mango and Strawberry complemented well.I kind of regret not choosing something usual such as BB cup to try. I am sure I will pop by to try the savoury flavour next.

Chot Nun takeaway bingsu is no difference from the many Korean owned bingsu. In fact, I am hoping to see creativity from the owners who are introducing bingsu next. Such as having true flavoured bingsu. Since the shaved ice are sweetened milk, what about using Banana Milk or even Strawberry Milk for example. And introducing DIY toppings and so on.

Meeting up with a friend who doesn't have a huge appetite, so I picked this Izakaya style Jap eatery as our casual dinner place. This is the 3rd and newest outlet by the Akashi Group. The restaurant was almost empty at 7pm on a weekday.We browsed the online menu on the ordering tablet and picked 4 kinds of their specialty gyoza dishes for sharing, and a couple of sides and carbo dishes to add variety.

To start things off, some refreshing drinks, Kuri Lemonade $4.80++ a nice soda with shredded cucumbers, and Earl Grey Ice Lemon Tea $4.80++ which tasted like regular Ice Tea.Food came pretty quickly from the kitchen after order was sent. The gyoza dishes we had were the original Yaki Pork Gyoza $4.80++, Yaki Mentaiko Gyoza $7.80++, Yaki Ebi Tamago Gyoza $6.80++ and Sui Pork Gyoza $4.80++. Each dish has 5pcs gyoza, great for sharing among friends.The best gyoza dish in my opinion is still the original pan fried pork gyoza. The crispy base was perfectly executed and pork fillings were moist and flavorful...nice! The mentaiko ones were pretty good too coz I'm a fan of anything topped with mentaiko. The boiled pork gyoza and shrimp gyoza were more light in flavors but still quite decent in terms of taste.We also tried the popular Jya Jya Men $6.50++, a handmade noodle dish that can be eaten two ways. It was first served dry with minced pork and a special black miso sauce with shredded veggies. We were advised to add some white vinegar and chilli oil and mixed well before consumption.The dry version tasted good, noodles were al dente and sauce was delicious. Then we saved a small portion for part 2 (as per instructions). Requested the waiting staffs for an egg and boiling noodle water to make it into a soupy dish.The soup version didn't make an impression though, but it was definitely an interesting dish to try.

Our second carbo dish, Ninniku Yaki Meshi (Garlic Fried Rice) $5.80++, unexpectedly blew us away with its fragrant wok hei and good chewy bite. Love this dish!Some sides we had were Aburi Burokkori $4.80++, torched broccoli with interesting crisp and smokey aroma, Morokyu $3.80++ crunchy cucumbers with savory miso paste, and Asari Sakamushi $6.80++ steam fresh clams in sake broth. All were rather decent.Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner at Gyoza-ya. Food quality was very good and prices are pocket friendly. Service was prompt and friendly. I would gladly return again to try other dishes.

While Cafe Calle Real has only been in their current location for about 1 year, their history actually stretches back to July 2006, having moved from Lucky Plaza, to Joo Chiat, before finally settling here in UE BizHub East. Cafe Calle Real is known for its modern Filipino cuisine; while predominantly Filipino, it also incorporates elements of Spanish and Chinese cuisine.Ambience at Cafe Calle Real is colourful and cheerful. Sturdy wooden and metal furnishings, laid out in communal dining style, are in vibrant summer colours, without being garish or tacky. The ample natural light makes the place brightly lit, and the atmosphere can be noisy and bustling with laughter during peak periods. Cafe Calle Real can even set up a buffet line to accomodate events!Service at Cafe Calle Real is good. Staff are friendly, polite, and welcoming, greetings diners and having them quickly seated. They display good product knowledge, able to describe how dishes are created. Food is served incredibly quickly, and looking at a full table packed with delicious food is just delightful. I like that staff come around occasionally to check if they're able to clear empty / dirty plates, and will also accede to requests for a change of serving plates.

Food at Cafe Calle Real is modern Filipino cuisine. Having previously visited the Philippines, and tasted the cuisines of both Manila and Cebu, I notice Filipinos prefer strong flavours, centered around savoury, sweet, salty, and sour, with an emphasis on contrast of flavours and counterpoints. At Cafe Calle Real, dishes taste less intense in flavour than normal, making it enjoyable for a wider variety of people. In terms of execution, small elements of Chinese, Indian, or Spanish cuisine have been incorporated into the traditional Filipino dishes. Portions are designed for communal dining, much too large for an individual, and sharing between at least 2 or 3 people is best. Prices are comparable to other cafes, budget about SGD $19 per person for a meal here.

Loved the Lechon De Carajay (SGD $14.80), more commonly known as Lechon Kawali, with its extremely crispy skin and moist, tender meat! Chef says the pork is air-dried for 3 hours, smoked for 1 hour, then roasted for another 2 hours. This results in the skin being taunt, cracking beautifully, yet retains moisture in the meat, making it soft and succulent. Paired with a robust sweet liver sauce, this was easily among the best dishes I tried here. Highly recommended!The Kare-Kare (SGD $18.80) is a type of Filipino stew, made of oxtail and beef stomach, along with eggplant / aubergine, string beans, and kai-lan / Chinese kale / Chinese broccoli (a modern ingredient). A thick, savoury sweet peanut sauce is liberally poured over the top, making this dish rich and flavourful! I find the peanut sauce to be milder in flavour than the traditional versions I've tasted, yet the lightness is rather appealing, making it easy to eat. Paired with an intense dried shrimp paste, which you mix in yourself, this creates a new depth of flavour for the dish. Excellent!It's said, "Sell the sizzle", and that's completely true with the Sizzling Pork Sisig (SGD $12.80). A noisy, sizzling hot plate, filled with egg, minced pork, minced beef, onions, bell peppers / capsicums, coated in pineapple juice, is mixed at the table, releasing a fragrant aroma of meat. Totally appetizing, this savoury salty sweet dish is best paired with rice, and eaten when piping hot. Pure comfort food at its best. Kuvo, a multi-concept restaurant and bar located in the middle of Orchard Road. I was first introduced to this unique restaurant that are well-hidden in the bustle shopping paradise by our friends A&J. It was a memorable one as we had high tea here and celebrating my beloved LD's birthday. In welcoming the new year, Kuvo introduced a new menu and new concept to its customers, with food and bespoked cocktail pairings. With head bartender Mr. Yutaka Nakashima as Kuvo chief mixologist, expect to see innovative, novel and at times quirky cocktails with Japanese flair. Please note that due to my medical conditions, I was not able to taste the cocktails, so I enlist Ivan Teh – Running Man for his drinking palate.

The new concept focus on tapas size dishes. We started with Brandy Flambéed Beef Cube ($22) and Grilled Octopus ($16). The chunky beef cube has a good marbling, juicy and succulent. The brandy flambéed gave it a sweet and smokey flavour at the same time. Though there was a huge dried chilli there, it more like a decoration. If you are a fan of garlic, you will love this dish. Coincidentally, I had this dish a few days with our overseas friends for supper and this dish never fails to impress me again. For seafood lovers, grilled octopus is a must-try. A dish that you can normally found in Mediterranean countries. The octopus leg was sous-vide till so tender it almost melts in your mouth. The smoked paprika helps to accentuate the flavour of the octopus. I do find the slow cooked potato is a bid to soft for my liking. Calamari Ajilo ($16). The ring shape calamari is cooked with chorizo sausage, which gave the dish a spicy pork flavour to the dish. It works well with the springy calamari. Unfortunately, there was too much oil in the dish. Making it looks like the dish is swimming in oil. Atlantic Cod Meunière (S$20). So what is Meunière, it is a French style of cooking a fish where at first it was lightly coated in flour, fried in clarified butter and finished off with brown butter and herbs. The double buttering method simply made it so yummy. The cod fish is flaky, juicy topped with subtle flavour from pea crust. The barley fricasse with corn was a little too rich and creamy to be paired with cod fish. I think it will be better if there is a dash of lemon here just to balance the dish. While we have become used with food and wine, Kuvo introduced a creative food and cocktails pairing.
Kuvo Coffee Hot Wings ($14) & Brewski Yen ($21). The crispy fried chicken wings are coated with 'Hot' coffee sauce. Kuvo version of spicy buffalo wings. The wings are crispy and succulent, while the caramelisation intensified the coffee flavour. Watch out for the spicy kick from the sauce. Although it come with blue cheese dip, it is missing the pungent taste. I decided to forgo my utensils and used my fingers. The Brewski Yen will definitely put out the fire from the wings. The mix include Kirin beer, now with an added tang of Suze, lemon, and ginger ale. Slipper Lobster (S$15) & Hello Cel’lo (S$21). Slipper Lobster / Crayfish sautéed with habanero, bell peppers, and cilantro. It is nicely presented, using the shell to wrap the dish. However, the taste reminds me of a normal zhi char dish. The meat of the crayfish was overcooked, making it tough the chew. Hello Cel'lo – made with Bankes London dry Gin, limoncello liqueur, celery bitters, and balsamico. Base on the smell, it smell like a herbal drink. Wagyu & Camembert Sliders (S$17) &Green Iceland (S$21). The Japanese Wagyu beef sliders was meaty, hearty and succulent. Topped with melted camembert cheese and portobello provide the sliders with creamy mushroom finish to the dish. This dish also come with crispy fried shrimp wanton with wasabi mayonnaise. The wanton is light, crispy and filled with good amount of shrimp, and mayo really packs with punch. The cheese rolls is a bit redundant in the dish, as it look pretty mellow. Probably better if they skip the cheese rolls and stick with fried wanton. In line with the East meet West theme for this pairing, Green Iceland mix consist of Italian Antica Fratta sparkling wine, Japanese Umeshu, mint leaf and brown sugar. A good refreshing mix to go with this dish. English Scotch Egg (S$14) & Captain B.R. (S$21). I have been wanting to try English Scotch Egg for a while and what a good opportunity to try one at Kuvo. Whole chicken egg stuffed in giant Wagyu meatball. Perfectly executed, as the yolk was runny when we slice through it. Meaty and hearty like the sliders and topped with edam cheese, who can say no to this. There are some gerkhins on the side to balance the meatiness in the dish. Captain B.R. (stands for British Rum) consists of Earl Grey infused Rum, fresh lemon, and soda water. You have the aromatic rum, with tea twist and fizzy soda that goes well with the English Scotch Egg. Kurobuta Yakiniku Donburi (S$16) & Tales of Shu (S$21). Kurobuta pork yakiniku served on a warm bed of Japanese rice, topped with perfectly poached sous-vide egg. Definitely a perfect comfort dish, especially after you break the egg and let it blanket the rice and yakiniku. It can do with much more sauce and thicker flavour to cover the whole dish. The cocktail, Tales of Shu is the star of this pairing. Brewed in a glass vacuum coffee maker, the cocktail’s freshly-prepared genmai tea, saké, Lillet Blanc, and fresh orange peel. Yutaka san really go all out for this cocktail. Served in Japanese tea cup it provide a good ending to the meal. For those who are unable to consume alcohol, you can try the mocktail concoction of Midsummer Breeze. The mix included Melon Mangosteen Tea, Orange Juice, and Passion fruit. It is fruity, while the melon provide the boldest flavour to the drink, there is subtle tangerines from the passion fruit at the end. It was a very interesting dining experience, especially looking at the food and cocktail pairing in leveraging on Mr. Yutaka Nakashima's expertise. As most of the cocktails have a light alcohol content and with touch of sweetness, making it easy to consume a few concoctions at one seating. My recommendation for a must try dishes are Brandy Flavfmbéed Beef Cube, Wagyu & Camembert Sliders (S$17) &Green Iceland (S$21); English Scotch Egg (S$14) & Captain B.R. (S$21); and Kurobuta Yakiniku Donburi (S$16) & Tales of Shu (S$21). On the side note, I was at Kuvo about a week before this tasting event, I also tried their dessert of Croissant Bread Pudding ($14). The bread pudding covered with filo pastry cranberry fillings, salted caramel sauce and vanilla gelato. A perfect combination of sweet and savoury, paired with flaky pasty. It would be tough for anyone to walk past AEIOU Cafe and not take a second glance, because of its vintage settings, the furniture and decoration leaning heavily on antiques and collectibles. While the decor is largely interesting - vintage crockery, marble-tiled counter, old Scientist's lamp, Tin Tin & Scarecrow etc, there is also a large patch of grass mounted on the wall - giving the cafe some greenery? I don't know, but it felt kind of cluttered and messy. I had the Avocado Coffee (SGD$8.00) with came in two separate parts - a tall glass of creamy, thick avocado blend and a small cup of black coffee. Before I mixed them together, I picked a spoonful of each to test out, and liked the flavour, therefore I took the brave move to pour the entire cup of black coffee into the avocado. The result was a smooth, creamy concoction of coffee that was luscious with avocado's buttery flavour. I was glad I came to experience this for myself.The Yuzu and Lime Cheesecake (SGD$7.00) - rich and indulgent but not so thick that it got "greasy", like how some cheesecakes are. This satin-smooth slice was sweet with a touch of zest from its fruity components, and melted in the mouths lusciously; the biscuit base added bite to the dessert.The Classic Tiramisu (SGD$8.50) was served in a huge Vodka glass, with layers of mascarpone cream, coffee curd and raspberry compote. It was redolent with coffee fragrance but light in alcoholic (if any) flavour; the fruit added a touch of tart which actually perked the typical tiramisu-in-a-jar up.

Boruto means vault in Japanese since the unit was formerly occupied by a bank. You could still sight traces of bank such as the safe boxes at the second floor. Boruto is suitated along South Bridge Road; offering both Japanese Tapas and Sake to diners. It is opened by Chef Patrick Tan who owns another restaurant, Tamashii Robataya, around the same place. Boruto is currently helmed by Chef Angus Chow who has worked for various big names including FOC.
Occupying 2 level, with entrance at the ground floor is the Tapas Bar while on the second level is the Sake Bar both section offers diners casual dinning environment. The entire design is mainly chic industrial.Sake Bar
At the Sake Bar, located at level 2, is where Boruto offers a private room with cushy leather sofa for diners to sit back and chill out with their favourite drink. This private room is made available for reservation with a minimum charges.

One might very quickly notice the Sake vault with the safe boxes as backdrops.Besides the sake and bespoke cocktails, the Japanese Plum Wine is also offered. Customers could purchase a bottle and store it with Boruto and pop over to enjoy whenever they feel like it.

Tapas Bar
The Tapas Bar features a bar counter facing the open kitchen. Diners could enjoy the food while watching the chefs in action. Boruto offers mainly bar table seatings with a few normal dinning tables as an alternative option.Currently, Boruto offers 5 Salads, 10 Small Bites, 6 Cold Tapas, 14 Hot Tapas, 6 Carbs and 5 Sweets.

Small Bites
We didn’t try any of the 5 salads. Instead we jumped straight into the Small Bites priced from $6.80 to $15.80. Among the 10, we tried only the Crispy Rice Cracker Tacos ($12.80). It is one of the 2 recommended dish for Small Bites. Pulled pork is sat on crispy rice crackers, topped with guacomole & chilli salsa. A flavourful dish with creamy smooth guacomole enhancing the dish and chilli salsa to spice it up. This is one of my top favourite dish at Boruto.In case, you are wondering what’s the second recommendation, it is the Teba Gyoza ($15.80).

Cold Tapas
Coming to the Cold Tapas, we tried 2 out of 6 dishes. Saga Gyu Tataki ($28.80) is one of the very well received dish among the group of taster of the night. Including myself, I thought well of it too. The perfectly seared Japanese Beef with some seaweed and saffron was served with some lovely edible flowers laced on the edge of the plate. Not only it is appealling in sight but certainly flavoursome to the tastebud.Ahi Tataki ($12.80) is the second cold tapas of the night. The Yellowfin Tuna block is slightly pan-fried on the outer before slicing it and served on the plate with chopped black olives, Japanese leek, chilli and wasabi yuzu dressing to whet the appetite.Both the cold tapas we tried were the recommended dishes at Boruto.

Hot Tapas
Tori-Take Roll ($15.80) is a North-eastern Chinese (Dongbei) inspired dish. Crispy chicken roulade with stuffed shitake jam drizzled with Chinese sauce concoction. My other personal favourite. Personally, I like the combination of the shitake jam with chicken.Personally, I thought it was a tough fight with the Saga Gyu Tataki.
Among the 14 Hot Tapas, beside the Tori-take Roll, there are 4 others recommended tapas namely Hotate to Cauliflower no Grill ($15.80), Beef short rib 58°C ($18.80), Kurobuta “Sio Bak” ($20.80) and Zuwai Gani Sausage ($30.80).

Carbs
Knowing that some diners might need carbs to complete the meeal, Boruto introduces 6 dishes to the menu with 3 recommended dish. We tried one of them, the Uni Pasta v1.1 ($35.80). It is known as version 1.1 as it is an improved dish from the original recipe which was with a Aglio Olio based pasta.The version 1.1 has its pasta cooked in seafood broth topped with fresh sea urchin roe and Hokkaido white wasabi. So expect an extremely strong seafood flavour from the dish. You either love it or hate it. I belong to the latter. Personally, I find the flavour too pungent.

Sweets
Desserts are always welcomed even after tons of food. My stomach could always make space for them. Starting from the lightest in taste is the Warabi Mochi ($8.80). A sweet soft to the chew and lightly sweeten, is made from bracken starch and coated with kinako. Most of us find that it lack of the chewiness which is present in mochi.At Boruto, they served the classic Creme Brulee with truffle infused, the Truffle Creme Brulee ($8.80). Though the texture is a little to liquefied but was flavourful, filled with nice vanilla flavour and truffle augmented the dish. But certainly this may not appeal to everyone. As there are some factor of acquired taste I suppose.Finally, the strong in taste is the Chocolate Surprise ($12.80). Half cake, half souffle with molten chocolate in the centre and served with 2 scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream and lastly topped with some crushed peanut.Chocolate fan, you are in it for a treat. Rich and strong chocolate aroma filled this dish. It is tough for me to reject this dish as one of my fave sweet at Boruto.

Final thought ... At Boruto, there are some outstanding dishes while a few pale to comparison. In short, there are hits and misses. 

Montana Singapore[New] Montana Brew Bar at POMO had changed their name to Montana Singapore and currently doing 3 different concepts under 1 roof:
(A) Montana (waffles)
(B) South bronx (burgers)
(C) Fabulous dough (donuts & milkshakes)
They now moved to a bigger shop space, with revamped new menu and improved recipes. Their sister arm, Nookie yogurt, on ground floor previously was forever gone. Currently occupied by their new South Bronx burger joint. Montana and Fabulous dough shares the same premises on level 2.
My foodie friends and I tried out their new cold brew, a few waffles and pastas. My opinions were:
(1) Yuzu-infused Coconut Cold Brew $6.50- The cold brew smells really good with Yuzu fragrance but the zesty taste from Yuzu was too overpowering we almost can't taste the coffee. Blend was smooth but texture too diluted. Rating 2/5
(2) Jalapeño Mac & Cheese Waffles $12- A version 3.0 of Mac & Cheese waffles was reborn! New with more macaroni mixed-in in the waffle mixture, making the entire waffle more filling than before. Love the spiciness from the jalapeño but overall lack exterior crispiness and it's too mushy inside. Rating 3.5/5
(3) Assam Crab Waffles $18- A unique traditional meet modern fusion waffle. This spiced waffle was soft, chewy, and you could taste lemongrass bits in the dough. Chef was quite generous with the portion of crabmeat chunks scattered on top. Assam purée wasn't spicy probably because the sweetness from the canned pineapple cubes mellowed it down. Rating 3/5
(4) Bulgogi Beef Waffles $16- Chef cleverly made Korean style waffles filled with rice, cabbage and kimchi to pair with the juicy bulgogi beef. Break the poached egg and trust me, the beef tasted more tender with the yolky flow. A clever twist compared to boring plain waffles we had elsewhere. Rating 3.5/5
(5) Truffle Egg Fettucine $16- Al dente fettucine tossed in a pool of savoury cream sauce base. Love the generous amount of mushroom given and the mild lingering truffle smell whenever I fork up the pasta. Although the egg was slightly overdone but it's still my most loved dish for the night. Simple yet savoury. Rating 4.5/5
(6) Vodka Crab Penne $16- Sourish tomato based pasta which I don't really fancy. Penne was indeed al dente but we totally can't taste any vodka in this dish. Crabmeat were minimal too. Skip this.

*I do love Montana's new modern fusion ideas in cafe food but my personal view, there's definitely room for improvement in taste. There's yet to be a dish where we really WOW nor remember after we leave the place. Staff attitude were definitely good. They were very attentive to our tables and requests were made right *
