Introduction
In the late 18th century, the British traveled to the East Indies for trade and commerce; that story is told through the experience at Colony. The restaurant showcases local, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Malaysian and Western dishes through seven open kitchens and breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Distinct experiences include a Sunday champagne brunch, table-side cocktails and a bakery offering fresh items each day. continue reading

CP值很高!It means the price I give is worth a lot. I tried different varieties here, never disappointed. Hot food like curry, crab, Indian grilled sticks, Cantonese Siu-may, Malaysian noodle. Photos show the fact. continue reading

Full review - http://midas400.blogspot.com/2016/03/buffet-lunch-at-colony-ritz-carlton.htmlMet up with sistas for birthday celebration at the newly revamped Colony restaurant at the glitzy Ritz Carlton hotel. The new space had been transformed from its former greenhouse theme into contemporary British-colonial theme. It looks nothing short of fabulous. The new buffet spread is designed around a Seven 'Live' Conservatory Kitchens theme.1. The Ice Bar2. The Grill & Rotisserie3. The Steam Basket4. The Wok5. The Tandoor6. The Fruit Stall7. The PatisserieBefore we start digging in, a walkabout to check out the spread is a must. Let's take a look at what the 'seven kitchens' are about. The Ice BarThe freshest crustaceans on ice, salads, cold cuts and cheeses. It's an absolute feast for the eyes. The Grill & RotisserieA selection of Western and Asian grilled delicacies. HK style roast meats, local Hainanese chicken rice & satay, western roasts carving station and grilled vegetables. The Steam BasketAsian noodles Live station, soups and assorted steamed dim sum delights. Check out their signature Laksa with homemade lobster balls. The WokA myriad of local wok-fried dishes. Seafood, meats, veggies and carbo dishes to make the diner's job of decision making so much harder than it already is.The TandoorIndian style meats, seafood and breads cooked in a traditional tandoor oven. All served in glistening traditional Indian copper ware. The Fruit StallAn assortment of whole fruits and fresh pressed fruit juices. The staffs here will help diners customize their own made-to-order juices. The PatisserieA decadent selection of sweet treats and a Live pancake station. Cakes, kuehs, custards/mousse, chocolates, ice cream and plenty of candies to spoil the diners. My food choices, some are sharing portions for us all. I loved the super fresh seafood, sushi & sashimi, dim sum, HK roasts, noodle soup, nonya kuehs, pancakes and the ice cream. The cooked food from 'The Wok' station was kinda disappointing with over-seasoned salty dishes and also overcooked ones. My other gripe would be some of the overly sweet desserts (cakes & custard/mousse), they looked gorgeous but taste otherwise...Lastly, we have a complimentary cake for the birthday girl. We took a lot of photos with it but eventually failed to finish it, of course. It has been a while since I come across a buffet spread this good, excellent variety, generous use of premium ingredients, well executed and great tasting dishes. Despite some shortcomings with 'The Wok' and a couple of below expectation desserts, we were definitely impressed with the lunch buffet spread. The price was a reasonable $58++ per pax for all the good stuffs mentioned here, quite worthy of an occasional splurge. continue reading

For pictures and full review, pls visit:http://madamechewy.com/2016/03/14/champagne-afternoon-tea-buffet-colony-ritz-carlton/After a grandiose renovation, Ritz Carlton’s Colony opened in September last year, replacing the luxury hotel’s all-day buffet restaurant, Greenhouse. The décor, in hues of black, brown, gold and pops of pastels, is undeniably grand. Dining in such a handsome setting is an experience in itself. You won’t be disappointed with the top-notch service standard here.Enjoying some leisurely time, albeit temporary can be really therapeutic. Every afternoon from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, sans Sundays, Colony offers 2 types of Champagne afternoon tea: British 3-tiered set where warm pancakes with French vintage caviar take center stage, and smorgasbord high tea. Since both are priced $49++, we went buffet afternoon tea, which we felt gave us more bang for our buck. If you don’t take alcohol, you can swap your flute of Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial Champagne for a glass of freshly squeezed juice. The savory buffet table comprises of 5 different varieties of open faced sandwiches and a small selection cooked finger food.Sandwich selections include: Smoked Salmon, Mozzarella and Tomatoes with Guacamole Spread, Asparagus & Cucumber, Crabmeat atop Sautéed Mushrooms and Tuna. My favorite was the succulent crabmeat and fragrant mushroom sandwich.Other warm savory nibbles are flaky Chicken Pie, Crispy Seafood Fritters, Chicken Floss and Vegetarian Quiche.Let’s move onto the riotous collection of desserts~On this plate, there’s Strawberry Textures, Ricotta Cheese Vanilla Mousse with Cinnamon Apple & Pineapple Compote, Cream Horn and Chocolate Banana Tart. The next plate features Tiramisu, Vanilla Crème Brulee, Lemon Tart with Meringue, and Mixed Berries Compote with Guanaja Chocolate Cream. My top pick is the Vanilla Crème Brulee, which was smooth and well-balanced, being neither too eggy nor too sweet. It also possessed an exterior which has a resounding crunch of burnt sugar.Sweet treat’s I didn’t manage to try (because I too stuffed) were the Brownie with Coffee Cream, Carrot Cake, Green Tea Mousse, Orange Caramel Cake, Champagne with Cassis Mousse, Vanilla Cheese Cake and Lychee Tart. Not pictured in the review, are Scones with clotted cream and various condiments, as well as a selection of Nonya Kuehs. The house made Earl Grey Gelato stole our heart the moment we took our first lick-its flavor is intense and its silky texture glides down the throat like a dream. This is a must try, DO NOT miss it! Other options to vanquish the heat are Gula Melaka Geleto, Rum & Raisin Ice Cream, Vanilla Ice Cream and Mango Raspberry Sorbet.Free-flow beverage selections include coffees, hot chocolate and teas from Tea Bone Zen Mind.Colony is an up-market spot for afternoon tea and I was expecting to be blown away, however only a handful of items made an impression. What’s more, there were no labels on the food items; hence you’ll have to guess what they are based upon their looks. One could ask the staff, but it will be much more convenient if there were tags so that guests could make informed choices and select items according to their taste preferences. In a buffet, I’m sure everyone would prefer to save precious stomach space for items that they like. continue reading
