Good:- Ordered the Berries and flapjacks pancakes. A total of 4 pancakes was served stacked in layers, coupled with maple syrups, cream and berries (strawberry, blueberry etc). Very tasty and satisfy your sweet tooth!- Portion enough to share with friends.Not-so-good:- Gets a little tired after eating too many pieces.Overall:Will recommend to friends to try. continue reading

Went hi tea with my best friend at Dean & Deluca. The restaurant gives and very clean and chic impression. A place where you can sit and have a pleasant peaceful afternoon tea. We had Rainbow cake which is their signature. The color is vibrant and so pleasing to the eyes. I think most ladies will fall in love with the presentation of this cake. The taste is like normal cake but the color is certainly attractive. We also had lemon pound cake, the appearance for this cake is not as attractive as the rainbow cake but to our surprise, this is quite delicious if you like lemon. The lemon taste is strong and refreshing. The sugar coating on the cake makes the lemon not so sour. The combination is perfect. We also had scones, which is also very delicious we find. The crust is crispy and it is soft and fluffy inside. You can either eat it with jam, maple syrup or fresh cream. We also tried the brownies, I like the fresh crunchy nuts inside the brownies. continue reading

deli-cafe situated conveniently in a grocer's / mart filled with rows of confectionaries like jam, mayonnaise, honey, cheese, meats etc for purchase. After passing by rows of hampers and jars of marmalades and honey etc, we found a seat in the pretty little bakery cafe filled with happy looking diners chatting away. We went to the bar counter and ordered our foods, excitedly awaiting their arrivals. Everything looked delicious, and we wondered how the food would turn out. While Charliez* had her English Breakfast set and Mango Lassi drink (a yogurt drink originated from India). The platter did not look very appetising, truth be known... the sausages were a little over-grilled. Nonetheless, we decided to give it a try since it was filled up with sausages, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and toast. Taste was rather bland and the sausages were a tad salty. It was just a notch tasteless, falling short of a heary breakfast (albeit being consumed at night as dinner course).I had a Salmon and Spinach Quiche - had loved the ones at Delifrance, so was wondering if this would turn out tasty too. This was a little bland as well; I could hardly taste the salmon flavor in the mashed up piece of overly-soft cheesey pie with no crispy crust. Yes, it was too soft and lightly-flavored, but the portion was generous. My Vegetable Juice (don't ask me what is inside, I cannot recall. Celery? Green apple?) had more flavours, no kidding. For more detailed information and photos, please drop by:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2013/12/dinner-at-dean-deluca.html continue reading

Consisting of a bakery, meat counter and dessert selection, the café was located at 4th floor. People going to Dean Deluca mostly because of their pastries, it was my favourite place for tea break. Freshly baked croissants, breads and cakes, if you are dessert lover you will adore Dean & Deluca for sure. Lavish environment was as if at outside country, the coffee boutique was also selling gift collection. To me, bliss meant that I have something to eat when I felt like eating. I had my cozy tea session with a friend, best relaxing space in town. Blueberry cheese cake was mine, finest spread of charming jam. Not only pretty slice from appearance, the smooth milky texture was heart-melting too. It strived my appetite along with a thickly aromatic coffee. Slow pace of eating and drinking, the taste of cake was irresistible. No doubt the price was steep, but the quality was a value worthy. continue reading

I've held pretty high expectations about Dean & Deluca at Orchard Central. If you don't already know, it's an up-market brand in New York that sells premium groceries but also has a good bakery and cafe. Learned that they adopt the self-service concept and customers basically read from the large menu board above the counter to order. Got myself the Chicken Burrito ($22), because it has some really nice ingredients such as ancho chicken, black bean, tomato salsa, guacamole, jack and cheese in tortilla wrap. I love all the flavours and texture of the ingredients combined, but for some reasons I wasn't impressed and the overall taste felt like something I could make at home. The burrito were hard and tough to bite despite the flavours. However, I did like the chips and salad. My friend got himself the Italian Meatball ($22), made out of Italian pork and beef with marinara sauce on bread. The hero of the dish, the meatballs, tasted tough too. We were not sure what went wrong on that day but it sure was a pretty stable weekday early evening. Overall, I visited this place with high hopes but left with disappointments. The food weren't bad, they were just .. too average to be priced like that. If only they price things lower and rid away the self-service concept, I may consider visiting again. For now, no. However, I do fancy their fresh grocery selection with really interesting premium ingredients. continue reading
